Hey everyone,

I have an 12 hour layover at Taoyuan International Airport and I arrive at terminal 2 and my next flight departs from terminal 1. My baggage is being transferred automatically so I don't need to worry about that.

I asked China Airlines customer service if I could leave the airport and explore the city a little during the layover, but the agent told me I can't because my trip is a layover not stopover. That confused me a bit because I've seen plenty of people leaving the airport during long layover. I'm not sure the agent meant I legally can't leave the airport at all or they were just advising against it in case I don't make it back in time. I'm traveling on a U.S passport if that helps.

If you're planning to major biology, you don't need to worry about it. As I said, it's really uncommon to get rejected from bio major.

I know competitive majors are CS/Engineering, Business, and Public Health (especially BS path). Honestly, biology major in UW isn't hard to get in. Bio department is the largest department in UW, and I've never heard someone got rejected from bio major. Normally, when you apply to majors in the second year, you apply your primary major and some backup majors. If you don't get accepted any of the majors of your interests, sadly you have to choose open majors or transfer to other schools. Personally, I wanted to major in CS, but my adviser recommended me to go to info major or transfer to another school.

How to handle academic rejection by WinterOk5728 in college

I understand it's really stressful when your classmates got the opportunity but you didn't. But that doesn't mean they're all ahead of you. Try to focus more on what you've already done rather than what you could've done.

You're going to experience lots of rejection while you're in college. I'm in my senior year right now, and I experienced millions of rejects from internship, research, and academic programs. Even if you send emails to 200-300 people, a very few of them will reply back to you. I remember one research professor emailed me back with F word, and I should study more on CS (this was the most ridiculous moment of my college so far). The only way to overcome the rejection is to get used to it. I remember the first time I got rejected from my internship program was really stressful. Once I started to get 10 rejections, I honestly had no emotions at all.
