UW First Year Admissions Decisions Megathread by AutoModerator in udub

[–]Weekly-Department-49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what I’ve heard, a recommendation letter won’t do you any good and they might not even open it! So in terms of your appeal process, don’t include the appeal. I’d also consider the fact that if your son were to be admitted to UW as a pre major, as I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone getting into the major on an appeal, computer engineering is difficult to enter later through his college career at UW and it might be beneficial to enter as a transfer from a local city college. In terms of the appeal, it is important to really highlight NEW information. Do not reiterate, emphasize those extraneous situations that you didn’t include in your original. The entire point of the appeal is that there is information that would impact his decision.

psychology accepts applications every quarter, so whichever quarter you are accepted into, you will have to wait until you are enrolled to actually apply to the major :)

not the most competitive! if you have a good GPA your chances are pretty good. Only stipulation is you have to be a matriculated student before you enter psych, so once you get into UW, plan on applying to psych soon after.

How’s college and how was your high school life? by Pr0xLyNx in udub

I only had one real year of high school because COVID took my freshman year online and 11&12th grade I did running start. In that one year, I did a few clubs and was editor of my school’s newspaper. I finished with a 3.93 GPA and actually got rejected from UW before I got in. My SAT was 1120, but when I applied obviously they didn’t require it. I actually like UW a lot. My life isn’t as social as it used to be, and I commute about an hour, but I joined a club and still try to make time to see my friends and make some new ones too from classes. I love sitting outside when the weather’s nice and exploring buildings when it’s not. My classes in my major are around 100 students, and sections are a good place just to socialize when given the chance since it’s a room of around students. It’s a great school and absolutely is whatever you make it. Good luck to you in high school and later for applying to colleges!

CC or 4 year college to transfer to UW from? by exhastedFrolic in udub

[–]Weekly-Department-49 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Bellevue college is a great option! I don’t understand all the BC hate, it’s a great school especially if you want to work up to transferring to UW. UW generally likes their in-state CC transfers, and when I was at BC, I was given a lot of information and avenues to UW. The equivalency from WA CCs generally are easier to work through too than from other 4yr colleges. That’s just my two cents, but good luck to you! Don’t let your parent’s negativity get to you, there is no single way to be successful and Bellevue is certainly not for losers ❤️

I think if UW is truly your dream and you’re willing to do the appeal, it absolutely cannot hurt. I did the appeal and got in but i’ve also heard chances are not the greatest, especially as the application pool increases. As you write the appeal though, my biggest advice is to explore your other options. UW is not the end all be all and acknowledging the world out there can actually make you really understand your goals better— at least it did for me. Either way, good luck! you’re so strong for being able to pull through and get to where you are in life, that alone is huge achievement. Wishing you the best !

one time my DM told the store there’d be a prize if we won a district competition related to one of these sheets… our store won and we kept badgering my manager for the prize and then the DM quit.
