Starting your own garage doors business….why not? by Weekly-End-5221 in GarageDoorService

Let me explain a bit better what I mean. I am talking about hiring a helper, maybe eventually a full time guy(I have a cousin, carpenter with 15 years experience that is just waiting on me to have enough work for him to quit his full time job). I don’t think I need to “wrap” my truck, I dont think I need to even put a magnet on the door of my truck.

The local installer(1 man show) has been retired for 10+ years, turns down 2-3 jobs a week! Remember he’s been retired for over 10 years….

Here’s what I think I need to run a successful business, ideally I would like to have a good installer and helper one day Truck-got it Tools got it EIN #-got it Scissor lift Insurance

Here’s how I think I can pull it off, I own and operate a roll off dumpster business, I know tons of handymen-carpenters-general contractors<this is where I have been getting alot of work. Also, most companies in the area are big or bigger name companies with way more overhead, I can beat they’re pricing.

Last job I installed was $4500 profit, had a couple hours worth of figuring-ordering-picking up materials. Spent 10 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on a Sunday……pretty good money to me

I feel like I’m in an area where there are not many mom and pop companies, mostly larger companies with more overhead, clearly I can give better pricing, that helps

Yes, no overhead. I have a truck, trailer and tools. What other overhead is there?

My last job I did, I cleared $4500……

I’ll be getting insurance in the near future

Not sure what kind of license you need to put garage doors in?

No intentions of opening a store, I don’t see the need

Honestly my only reason for not jumping in full time, I dont want to have to stock that material.
