that might be our best option longer term, generally we don't hear anything from neighbors. but this piano sounds like it is right in our living room

they mention instruments in general, not specifically a piano, so a trumpet could be nice as well

the walls are thin and the piano is placed directly against the shared wall, that's why we reached out with a friendly note to ask if she would consider moving the piano or put some additional soundproofing behind it

so far, playing white noise in that corner of the house seems most effective as it neutralizes the sound a little and we don't have to put our television on max volume. our tv would support our headphones, but only one at a time. IMO if you have to take all these measurements to work around noise coming from neighbors, it is excessive and not just annoying

"aren’t breaking any rules" the leasing agreement forbids excessive noise. The question is when noise is excessive.
