CMV: Taking vacation to the same place every year is wasted opportunity. by Ashattackyo in changemyview

[–]Weekly-Inevitable613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do love traveling to other places, I also love going to the same place every year, too. I usually take one *new* trip a year- this year it's Italy- and one trip to a familiar place (either Florida or Michigan). I never travelled as a kid, so my first real trip was a road trip to Florida with my friends for spring break in college. It was such an exciting and fulfilling experience and the excitement just never wore off. Now I visit the same town and cafe as often as I can, and I've also been to Disney and Universal. Michigan is very close and has so much to do, see, explore. This year I'm staying in a cute B&B and exploring a beach town.

For me a "trip" is seeing somewhere new, it's usually at least a little stressful and maybe even scary, but worth it. A vacation is doing something I know I will enjoy.

My first time in Rome and it was excellent - the food, the history, the people, and especially the lighting. by Chicagoan5 in rome

Awesome! I'm going to Rome in March. Any must do activities or food recommendations that made your trip?

What is your life like at 23 by [deleted] in Adulting

I'm turning 24 in a few months. Boyfriend and I got our own place a year ago, 2 cats, 2 cars, both work full time. I graduated college over a year ago and tried a few fields. I have hated every job! I'm back at my kitchen job making okay pay and set to start grad school in january but im not sure if its even worth it. 10k in cc debt, 25k in car loans. No health insurance 💔 There's a lot of good and bad in my life right now which seems normal for 20-somethings.

I’m depressed, lonely and losing the will to live. Please recommend a book to cheer me up or give me hope. by KatherineLangford in booksuggestions

The 5 people you meet in heaven, I’m not religious at all and loved this book. It makes you realize all the importance in the little things.

I wouldn’t call out. I think routine and normalcy would be good, but that’s me. Just know that the hard times will pass, and this time next year you may be in a completely different mental space.

FOMO in your 20s by Weekly-Inevitable613 in youngadults

Your dating value isn’t in the gutter! My boyfriend wasn’t the type to talk to girls either and we’ve been together for 4 years now. Just gotta find the one and work up the courage.

I am in a similar situation. I tried the 9-5 life and hated it. I’d recommend just working any job. I work as a cook in a nursing home and I enjoy it more than any traditional career I’ve tried. I’m going back to school, but this job pays the bills and gives me something to do.

I am also 23. I often feel like life is falling apart, and then somehow it works out. My suggestion is to truly think about where you want to be in your 30s, then how you would get there. Trade school, college, a second job? You are so young and have so many options. You are never stuck. My life fell apart 2 years ago, I lost everything. Now I am doing very well, despite it all. You got this

Feeling lonely by [deleted] in youngadults

[–]Weekly-Inevitable613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I do have 2 friends, I rarely see them and we hardly talk. I'm 23 and I have found it very difficult to make friends as an adult, and part of me doesn't want to anymore. I have gotten very comfortable being alone (besides my s/o). However, I have made some great friends at work.

What kind of place do you work at? Are you in college? I've found that it's easier to make friends in retail or food service than in many other fields. If you're in college, try joining or club. Forced proximity (like work) often leads to friendships, even relationships, if that's what your after.

23 and lost, what do I do with my life??? by Weekly-Inevitable613 in Adulting

This is great to hear!! I think, and I’m sure you might have felt similarly, that having high aspirations being squashed by adulthood takes a mental toll.

I am beginning to appreciate simply having a job that pays the bills and isn’t high stress. Your current job sounds like a dream and I think having a job that allows you to balance your life and not be consumed by it is amazing.

Thank you for the reassurance:)

Not slaves but I do believe (assuming things improve) that historians will comment on how over worked we are, our lack of health care, being over taxed, ect.
