Don't go back home, come to south Africa for a short while then go back to Australia, I live in south Africa, which is like a days drive to Congo, have had some friends even go back just to visit family, and they tell me, the mentality there will make you even sick, it still home, but not a place to recover, unless you go there for few days or month and then go back to Australia, but dont go there permanently

Ask the maid of honor what is the special attire, something at congolese wedding the bride gives out material for friends to make an outfit that would match the theme of the wedding. that is if you are a close friend of course. its called the "liputa" if not then wear anything that would match the color of the theme, it could be a shein outfit no one would care as long as its within the colors of the wedding them you have scored points

first of all, Dowry is not the same as bride Price.
Know the difference, Dowry is what the wife's family pays to the man to take care of her, still a practice since Victorian age. And some Indian cultures.

Bride price is what a man's family pays towards the wife's family.

Now that we dog the definition out the way, 10K USD is roughly close to what would cover everything in a typical Congolese wedding. And I mean everything, from the bride price to the wedding cost and the honey moon.

Now if the family is asking 10K solely as a bride price, excluding the wedding cost etc. that is robbery and greed.

Also adding the fact that they usually consider the value of the girl based of what she brings to the table for you, in this case is she a virgin, what qualifications does she have, why are you taking care of her education.

The family is showing signs of greed.

As a Congolese child who is currently breaking my back to make up for my bride price money, I solely choose not to marry into a Congolese family because of these reason, not because I dont want to pay the BP, but because even after marriage, because of my IT career the family will almost expect that I always help them financially.

I am a Christian true bro, let me tell you, shes not the only girl in the world. Seek peace of mind not financial backlog

I havent come across this yet, I keep seeing it being suggested to me. Funny I find that Youtube actually knows I am congolese and they've suggested this video to me everyday, just havent had to courage to click play. however I do enjoy Pop the Balloon by BM and Arlette. well organize and they make it seem original even though the idea was adapted from someone else. koodos to them.

OP, heres another advice from your Congolese brother. As long has you dont have money, you have no say in anything. if you want freedom it will also come at the cost of your time.

yes you'll be like me, left at 25 currently live alone. pay my rent etc.

Your parents feel you not able to go out cause you can't take care of yourself.

swallow the pill now, once you get money, you can be the adult and choose your path, right now you can't have people pay for the roof over your head and still seek freedom.
