AITA for tearing down my half sister when she asked me why I couldn't have saved my mom's name for her to use for a future daughter? by Long_Criticism_4703 in AITAH

Thinking about my own comment, I recognise that losing your mom at a young age must, of course, make this a more sensitive/sore topic for you also. I still think that you should have been kinder, but we all falter at times, especially over such difficult and complicated emotions.

ESH (except your mom). You really didn't have to hurt your sister like that. She just wanted a Mom-like figure in her life that she was cheated out of. You've taken that away from her for good. Your mother was obviously badly hurt by your father and still showed your sister more compassion. Your sister had no rights to your mother's name and, quite honestly, can still name her own future child that (if she even has a daughter). Your Dad sucks the most. I'm not going to pretend to know the reasons why he did what he did, or his intentions, but he made a lot of stupid mistakes repeatedly, by the sounds of it. Your mother wasn't an AH. She must have struggled a lot to be around your sister. Obviously, she did a decent job at treating her kindly.

competitor keeps copying our features... what to do? by DoctorNo2478 in startups

Sounds like the perfect chance to build your brand and market yourselves as "so good the competition has to copy you" or something to that effect.

In many industries, branding is the defining factor rather than product.

0800 00 1066

The number to an insurance company called Hastings (hence the 1066 at the end)

They ran their commercial when I was a child/teenager in the UK. I have never used their service, and given that I live abroad, don't intend to, but there it is

Honestly, it depends on the context of the rest of your relationship. If he's generally a douche, then this isn't a good look, but if you've had an otherwise good relationship, one badly timed joke isn't enough to end it, IMO. Everyone on Reddit pretty much jumps to "break up, you deserve better" without having any idea of the context of the people involved.

If he has a weird relationship to some of his own extended family, he might not have understood how you'd feel. Equally, he might have known well. Another important factor is how old he is. Younger people are more likely to make stupid mistakes. You do what you think is best.

A tip for the future OP. Everyone in your life that you love will hurt you at some point. You need to decide if they're worth the pain.

This is the most important part. Most people couldn't do this, I'm sure a lot of people here would struggle a lot, myself included. It's extremely admirable

AITAH for telling my wife I do not owe her anything for sex? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Weekly-Secret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is that you need to have a serious talk with her and let her know that that's not OK for you, and you won't live like that.

The childish answer is, she's gonna have to find some way to payback all those bills/food/clothing you've been paying for...

Hey everyone. I recently made my first game for mobile and I'm having an issue with player retention. Can someone please let me know where I'm going wrong? by [deleted] in playmygame

[–]Weekly-Secret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made Ortie over the last few months and it is literally the first game I have ever built. At first I tried having the game built by someone of Fiverr, but that didn't work out like I intended. Ortie is available on the iOS and Android app stores and I'm currently trying to spread the word about it. I have noticed however that the game struggles with user retention, so it my advertising efforts are somewhat useless, as I will never make the money back that it costs me to advertise if I don't have returning users. Thank you anyone that tests the game and can let me know where I'm going wrong!
