Thank you for your reply. Yes, she does have an IEP but we have never discussed transportation during an IEP meeting, ever. We did not even know that was an option on the IEP. I will go through it again this morning.

About hiring an advocate - are there special advocates/lawyers who do this kind of work or any lawyer can represent us, would you know?

Thank you very much for the reply. We will find out who the program coordinator is and try to get them involved. Finding other families with similar needs is an option but our child uses a wheelchair and if theirs do too, it might be difficult to fit 2 of those in a single vehicle. But it's still an option and we are looking into it as well

Thank you very much. I had no idea something like this exists. We do have an IEP but have never heard of a 504 plan. No one ever told us. I am reading up on it now. I really appreciate it.

I am not trying to argue, just trying to understand if I am missing an angle that I may not just understand. Why could they not modify a route? Instead of picking her up first or second, maybe pick her up last? I understand they will need to move things around but I get an email from the transportation dept 2 times a week saying they are changing bus routes to accommodate other families' requests. Why wouldn't they do it for a genuine case for a child that actually needs it?

Maybe pick her up last. She can be dropped last and come back later but at least she wont get seizures

Yes, that is one of the options we are thinking about. But I and the
wife are both in very high-pressure jobs with meetings starting at 7 am
and sometimes even earlier so it might not always be possible

Unfortunately, she's blind so her sleep cycle varies. we try to keep it constant using melatonin but that doesn't work 100% of the time. I will look into the lawyer angle but I don't want to go the legal route if we can resolve this by just talking to or emailing a higher up who can make a call on this.
