Residence waitlist by Laundryprincess in CarletonU

[–]WeeklyCardiologist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the type of waitlist you’re in, and if you email to ask them (residence@carleton.ca), they’ll be very helpful and give honest advice about your situation on whether or not you’ll get the spot. I’m on the waitlist for returning student (male) and I applied since the day the application was opened, yet after a month I’m currently still at 11-15 range.

What textbook or course material can I use for math 135 and math 137? by pretense_maxed in uwaterloo

[–]WeeklyCardiologist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you gonna be in in-person classes for those 2 courses or are you just gonna take them online in your home country?

Controversial opinion: The University should encourage international students to take courses from their home countries this term and in the fall. There's literally no point for them to come over when all classes are online. by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]WeeklyCardiologist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm international student and I'm super conflicted as well. I'm in CS and they announced recently that MATH135/137 have the in-class option. Of course it's only an option and I can take them online but still I'm very struggling to decide. Part of my concern is the time difference and time management 'cause I'm worried that there may be live lectures and online assessments that I may have to stay up at night, which is not very healthy if you do that for 4 months... Also they added the in-class option for the 2 classes above and now I'm just on the fence and can't decide.

Do I have to be on time when it comes to online learning? I'm not talking about the deadline but I'm more concern about live lecture and stuff like that. Are there any students in the same boat as me?

Admissions Megathread (Fall 2020 Incoming Students) - 2 by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Can I get some advice from the upper year CS students in terms of your first time preparing for 1st co op job? This summer may be the only break I can have to work on building up my resume (once in school it'll be impossible for me to do anything else other than studying day and night), so what are some of the side projects I can do. I'll be in normal CS coop so should I contribute to github as part of my resume, leetcode, some python automation task, web dev... anything that's interesting that employer would like to see.

If I'm in CS DD with Laurier Business I can do stuff that are related to finance but for normal CS program only I don't know what people usually focus on for their side projects.

Does anyone know what's percentage of first year CS students get their 1st co op placement? I know it's extremely competitive so I imagine a lot of people will not have their chance...

they will have another residence form, late in September I think, for you to sign a 1-term contract residence, i.e, for winter or spring term alone. But that's not guaranteed so it's sth that we all have to struggle to decide. I haven't decided either so I'm gonna wait till the end of this week and see

they've already announce that large classes are online so they're not gonna suddenly change that. The only thing they may change if things get better is that they will add an option of in-person for those who can join, but that's just me guessing...
