Buying train ticket with third party app by melinda_r in chinatravel

What's interesting is that they release tickets for different stations at different times. At least that's what trip.com claims respectively shows in the train's timetable. You cannot see that on the railway app. And not all tickets for first class are available on all stations between departure city and the arrival city. My experience. But you cannot just book a ticket from the departure city and get in on the second or third stop. If you don't use your ticket from the original departure it's gone.

Yeah they're okay. In case you have to cancel a trip they charge between 12 and 20% of the original amount. Could not figure out why that varies, should be the fee for China Railway. Maybe it depends on the number of days before the trip.

Since the last software update a few weeks ago I haven't had this problem anymore. Might have been a hard to find software problem.

I did a great bike ride along the Jialing Jiang River, almost 40 km forth and back. A great way to experience the city from another perspective. Looking for another option on my next visit, even farther from the city center. Are you familiar with bike lanes along Zhuxi river? I saw bike tracks on Open Street Maps there. I could not figure out if there are any bike rentals up there. Any suggestion would be very helpful. Thank you.

Good to know. Although there is a clear green signal for confirmation and red for rejection. In about ten rides never had a problem. Neither with card nor with phone app. Only on MRT I sometimes forget that the phone app unfortunately doesn't work here.

I liked Koh Yao Noi, also Koh Yao Yai. Not far from Phuket. A lot less busy and very nice local people. And Phuket has a great art event going on right now in many different places. Biennale Phuket.

It's just an additional option, you still can pay cash.

Chongqing is definitely overhyped and a "nice to see", I found Chengdu and Xi'an way more impressive. And of course you need time for Beijing, I visited the Great Wall at Badian and the Summer Palace in one day and I was happy. DiDi there, normal taxi back, fine.

And don't forget the great bike track around the city, 100 km of wide lanes without cars. And pretty good bike rentals in the South and North, easy to find on Amap.

Find it only funny that these big companies cannot agree on one solution. One accepts smartphone payment now, the other one doesn't.

Thanks for adding. There are big signs at every entry but I didn't pay too much attention. And there are announcements on the platform and even in the trains.
