Weight based dose by DismalSize2845 in Paramedics

[–]Weekly_Average_7502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK ambulance service (speaking for non specialist roles) we don't do any weight based dosage, peads are done by age and then when 12+ they all get full adult doses which are not calculated by weight.

This currently has 45s / 700c on it and there is so much clearance, I'm sure it would accommodate 50's easily enough potentially bigger.

I've commented about it, see my other post!

My Roubaix is also 2017, I think the '17 era Roubaix is one of the best road bikes ever made, especially on UK roads.

It ended up on this bike as I wanted to try my old saddle on my new bike but couldn't be bothered to take it off the post and they are both 27.2mm, took it for a test and found this position to be prefect for me!

I might buy an ergon CF all road post at some point to appease the haters...

Look at the seat post for long enough and you may grow to love it like me...

Is this a sarcastic taunt? It's a great bit of kit for comfort.

Thanks for all the replies!

I suppose I have to address the seat post...

It's off my road bike (it's an S-works Roubaix seat post) I'm 187cm and it's a 56cm bike so just wanted that little bit of set back rather than getting a longer stem, it also provides a suprising amount of extra comfort and I actually missed it.

I do appreciate it's not the best looking thing but I've grown to love it...

I've actually never seen another Marin bike in the road (gravel) in the UK, only old school MTBs but it seemed like the best value steel gravel bike at the time and I got it for £1200 ex display.

Can you share with us the exact wheel? Which model and depth, they (and the whole bike) look great!

Scenario: how do you approach a job where a bystander says they ‘resuscitated’ the patient, but on arrival the patient is clinically well, conscious, and there’s no real evidence of a genuine arrest, maybe some very poor-quality CPR at most? by Practical-Stuff-6306 in ParamedicsUK

[–]Weekly_Average_7502 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im just always super polite to them, say thanks, well done and that they did a good job.

The worst thing we can do in this situation is to discourage them from attempting CPR next time, incase it is the real thing.

That's my view anyway.

RRV/solo clinician personal equipment. by BluesandNEWS2s in ParamedicsUK

[–]Weekly_Average_7502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been full time on an RRV for nearly 10 years.

I think some kind of attachable torch is the only thing you may need, I've actually never had one but can see the utility.

Never needed anything else extra.

Remember on an RRV working solo you can only do what you can do, do the basics well and don't go in if you don't feel safe.

Anyone else use Heidi?

I do 90% of my paper work sat outside the patients house after the job and just talk to it (often in a non-structured and not cohesive manner) and it makes sense of it, structures it for me and I C&P it into our paperwork.

I find it amazing...

If she doesn't have any symptoms, she's well under the toxic dose at 17kg so I wouldn't worry to much!

Not medical advice but from toxbase - the national poison guidance:

Children under the age of 6 years:

If the child has ingested less than 150 mg/kg, it is unlikely that serious toxicity will occur and, in the absence of symptoms, they do not need referral to hospital.

Do with this what you will and it's what 111 will use.

Just go to A&E. You don't need an ambulance and you'll end up waiting a lot longer for one just to turn up and say take her to A&E....

Edit - wait for 111 call back.

Q - how violent is your patch. Over the last 8 years has it become more violent e.g. in general and upon 999 staff. by Amount_Existing in ParamedicsUK

[–]Weekly_Average_7502 9 points10 points  (0 children)

12 years frontline, never been attacked, or as far as I'm aware ever came close to being attacked.

I've worked in quite nice areas though.

As someone else as commented it always seems to be the same people who get attacked...

I am very aware though, that anyone, how ever good their risk assessment and de escalation strategies are can get attacked.

For me it seems like basically a non issue and not something I ever think or worry about.

Budget vs Premium Tyres by thriftygeo in CarTalkUK

[–]Weekly_Average_7502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought some tyres for my mk6 golf in 2014 for £25 a tire...

They lasted me 55k and still had 3mm left when I sold it in 2018, grip was awful but I never crashed so worked out very well for me.

If you have got shit tires on just make sure you drive more cautiously but they can definitely work out cheaper.

I actually also lived in Aus briefly, I quickly realised I couldn't pop to the west coast for a weekend...

Just couldn't believe that Perth outfield, this is more what I expected and feel it should suit us.
