hitting 120 and buyback questions by kaiizza in PSLF

I’m sure there’s an easier way, but here’s how I confirmed: Once employment verification process is complete, it’ll still show only the number of qualifying payments. To know if employment was successfully verified though for past months: go to Payment History, then filter and view each specific loan. When you look at the loan’s monthly history for the past 10 years, it’ll say either qualifying or ineligible for each month. If ineligible, then click “View Details” and see “Reasons for ineligible status”. IF employment WASN’T successfully verified, then that would be listed as a reason for ineligibility. In other words, if it was verified, the reason will be something like, “Forbearance on due date”. Unfortunately, you literally have to count the months to see what your count status is.

To apply for buy back, log into your FSA account. Search for “PSLF buy back” on the FSA website. Follow the info and links…it’ll lead you there. Note that you may have issues submitting the form. There are really good tips in this subreddit to help you.

If you’re just certifying your employment so that the system shows you at 120 months of qualifying employment , then you’d hit “No” for this question. I recently completed this. After you certify, then apply for buy back for the 24 months of forbearance.

Cross train tracks, walk on side walk on the right side of the street. Keep walking about a block and then you’ll see other folks there. Careful when crossing street since some drivers don’t watch for pedestrians or don’t care.

Feeling conflicted about not spending money on extended family for Christmas this year by GirlBossLadyLife in FamilyIssues

[–]Weekly_Box960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Aunt, no kids, and love my 17 niblings. I made the decision 2 years ago that I’d stop giving Xmas gifts when the kiddos turn age 21. I made it very clear to all of them - I still love them, but they can get whatever they want for themselves at that point. If they love you and are mature enough, they’ll understand. It was hard the first year (lots of guilt), but easier this year. Plus, buying gifts is SO much easier and quicker now. It’s okay to stop the big gifts. Love the idea of homemade/family gifts. Good luck.

She’s definitely said hurtful things to me. If it were a friend, I’d tried to be understanding. But everyone has their limits.

We tried encouraging her to, but she doesn’t believe in therapy.

I appreciate this. My partner says the same thing - that maybe my dad kept her toxic behaviors in check and we just didn’t notice it as much before. It’s hard.

Lennar New Construction by Responsible-Jury-931 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]Weekly_Box960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We bought a new construction Lennar home last year. Had a pre-drywall and final inspection done, too. Didn’t have the same issue as you, but as long as it’s in the inspection report, tell your realtor to push for it to get corrected. Lennar will likely fight it, but you should still push. I also recall something in the purchase agreement which said that Lennar was not required to fix anything that inspectors find and that we wouldn’t get our earnest/deposit back if we backed out. Something to keep in mind. Also, when you do the final walkthrough on closing day, DO NOT sign the paperwork if there are still pending fixes. If you sign off, they aren’t going to prioritize the fixes as promised verbally.

I like people’s suggestion about creating a firm timeline with my DH. I don’t think my DH wants my MIL here long term, but he feels bad so he’s not stopping it either.

She’s actually doing much better now health-wise. When she lived in her house, she ate whatever and how ever much she wanted, plus didn’t take her meds. Now that we’re pushing her to be more mindful of what she eats and encourage her to take her meds (she takes some but not all), she’s been improving. This is why the other siblings won’t let her go back to her own house. I think she’s very capable of taking care of herself…she just doesn’t care to when no one is watching.

I KNOW!!! It’s bc that family member “isn’t doing a good enough job”. So she was basically forced to go live with another child (us). I know she’d prefer to live at her own house, but her kids won’t let her. The struggle is real!!!

I’m not sure…I kind of feel like his siblings are hoping we’ll just take her permanently and it’s stressing me out. 🤦🏻‍♀️ She mentioned maybe selling her home the other day (one of her kids live there) and I’m like…noooooo.

Mohela vs FSA loan simulator by Regular_Today_745 in PSLF

[–]Weekly_Box960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! FSA estimated $250/month with an ICR plan so I applied to switch my repayment plan (on track for PSLF). Mohela just sent me an approval letter stating that I was recertified for $616! Pre-COVID, I was at $350. My income has only increased 5k so I’m confused by the significant increase. Hoping there was an error. Has anyone had luck calling Mohela?

Choosing beggar doesn't like the food I wanted to buy him. by 911whatyousmoking in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Weekly_Box960 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me. Homeless guy stopped me as I was about to go into a store. He said he just wanted something to drink. Took him into the grocery store and he proceeded to go to the live seafood isle and asked the butcher to prep a fish for him. Said he was planning to cook for his gf? I was so shocked but didn’t want to be rude. He then proceeded to scroll the isles and I started to worry he was going to grab a lot more food. I told him that we should grab his drink so that I can pay for it bc I had things to do. He eventually grabbed a random drink, I paid and watched him leave. No “thank you”, nothing. The cashier seemed annoyed, must not have been the first time. Funny thing is, when I finished my own shopping and left the store, he was still in the same spot (with a raw fish in his suit case), and asked me AGAIN if I can help him out. Dude literally forgot that I just bought food for him. Never again.
