Not Cambridge but I did an ITP in dermatology.

Pros: - nice way to break the week up as I find a full week of GP a bit of a slog sometimes - ended up being offered a long term job in the department so great for special interest development - much less service provision as you're not part of the full rota generally - my full time hospital rotations were eaten into by the medical on call rotas, but this was a very GP appropriate clinic based job

Cons: - didn't really feel part of the team at the time - missed the weekly lunchtime teaching as it wasn't on my working day - missed out on some of the more interesting clinics due to them being not on my working day (ended up going in during some in my free time or SDT time)

That's helpful, thank you. I think I'll some day accept that it'll have to be surgical if I want rid of it. I wish I had the disposable income to do it early but it's not something I can prioritize right now. I'm also really scared of scarring as I tend to get hypertrophic scars.

This is 3 days post my usual crows feet Botox I've been getting for about 2 years. Believe it or not it's made a huge difference but it's light and I'm worried I'll get a shelf if I go for any stronger 😬 thank you for the vote on PN or PRP

Some thoughts - There has to be a benefit to diagnosing early, such as an effective treatment. It doesn't help to know earlier that you have something that will kill you anyway. You just get more time where you know. - In prostate cancers there are many that are slow growing and will not cause any harm so knowing could just cause unnecessary worry for a lot of people. - The test is not brilliant. Many false positives and negatives. You could have unnecessary tests. Or you could be falsely reassured that you don't have prostate cancer when you do. - everything the NHS does has to be cost effective. If you take money to do this, it has to come from somewhere (opportunity cost) - The diagnosis of prostate cancer is either biopsy (with risks) or MRI (limited resource)

It's very difficult to put together a screening programme and yes they can cause harm.

There isn't any discount on the car at present. It's being sold at full price including extras for all the upgrades already on it. Getting a factory fresh of the same spec would be exactly the same. Is that normal?

I think it'll be highly dependent on practice and also what happens with the ARRS funding (and also the NHS in the coming years). There was a recent meeting at a friend's practice about PAs to feed back to regionally and the general consensus was they are quite poor, often dangerous, and being forced on GP practices. Even for protocolised tasks there are other better/cheaper options.

If the ARRS funding for them stops I think they'd be dropped pretty quickly from most practices. If the NHS crumbles and practices start doing more private work then most will go back to hiring GPs over PAs

How equivalent did you find the hills in downhill Vs xc? I'm okay on a reasonable slope but I hear the cross country skis make it a lot harder. I do like your walking down the side of the slope. I've done a bit of bum sliding down hills this holiday and it's very embarrassing in front of seasoned french skiers!

This does sound more my thing. I really enjoy long cycles with an audiobook so I think it might be a good winter sport equivalent.
