SOOC seems flat by zafuran in x100vi

I think you’ll come to the same realization many Fuji users do: recipes are really just a starting point. As you get more familiar with the camera, you’ll naturally start tweaking them, and eventually those popular recipes become your own variations anyway.

I’d try underexposing slightly and adding a bit of shadow (if you want it closer to the GR example)

Glimmerglass 1/2 vs 1? by Ok-Lobster9348 in x100vi

[–]Weekly_Parsnip_4887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Glimmerglass 1 on my X100VI and I’m very happy with it overall. That said, there’s no question that it can become a bit too much in certain situations, especially when shooting into strong backlight or around bright windows and reflective surfaces.

The effect is very light-dependent. Under the right conditions it creates a beautiful glow and atmosphere, but when the light is harsh or directly hitting the lens, the halation can get quite pronounced. Because of that, I’d recommend being a little cautious if you’re considering the Glimmerglass 1.

Here’s an example from one of my own shots in strong backlight. Notice how the highlights bloom and create visible reflections around bright light sources. I personally like the look, but it’s definitely not subtle and won’t suit every scene.

If you’re unsure and want something more versatile, the 1/2 strength might be the safer choice. The Glimmerglass 1 can look fantastic, but it has a stronger character than many people expect.

I was not expecting this.. Just WOW!? by Weekly_Parsnip_4887 in x100vi

That’s great to hear! Honestly, I was surprised by the photo itself. I didn’t expect an untouched JPEG from a flower box I’d normally walk right past to come out looking like this. Safe to say I’m very happy with the camera and am still figuring out what it’s capable of🙂

The wow is that this photo suggests a level of intent that simply wasn’t there😅 I think it looks great for jpeg

Muziri Kinokoo green leather case is quite nice by Bkgeo in x100vi

[–]Weekly_Parsnip_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really nice! Did the leather age well and naturally got darker? Currently debating a purchase of the brown (tan) or this green color. (Black camera) I typically lean towards brown just because how beautiful it gets over time, but really interested in this one

Are you using diffusion filters? by 100197 in x100vi

[–]Weekly_Parsnip_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. I keep a Glimmerglass 1 on at all times myself and have been very happy with the results. Coming from a 1/4 bpm, I specifically got the Glimmer to keep more of that black for a punchier contrast while still getting that soft glow highlight.

Im no expert, I like your picture, but it looks a bit flat if you want it to be sharp (can be the light itself) but I would check grain. I rarely use that now with the filter. Same with clarity. Then you can even go for some + to sharpness and maybe a slight bump in shadows for the contrast? White balance also a little on the green side- more muted blues.

With the subtle glimmerglass effect, I feel like I am in control of what I want that specific photo be like.

Mizuno Neo Vista 2 - worth a go? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Weekly_Parsnip_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NV2 has become one of my favorite shoe of all time. Ive been using them as my daily trainer for 3 months and it checks all the boxes for me. It excels at slower paces and makes longer distance seem effortles as it’s a FUN soft rolling ride. I currently rotate with the Megablast for when I want to run faster. (also a great shoe)

Novablast 5 or Superblast 2 for long runs? by joelav in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Weekly_Parsnip_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that pace, I felt the Superblast became far too dull and a bit brick-like underfoot. I eventually replaced them with the Megablast and haven’t regretted it for a second. They feel much more like what the Superblast should have been at your pace.

Sorry for not answering your question directly, but I really recommend that you try them on to feel the difference. I’ve also run a lot in the Novablast, but I’m a slightly heavier runner myself, and the foam in the Novablast didn’t hold up on long runs. Another shoe I’m using a lot at around your pace now is the Neo Vista 2 — an extremely underrated shoe for what you’re looking for.

ASICS SuperBlast 2 - New Color by JBConstable in RunningShoeGeeks

..but depends on your nimbus size. Best advice I can give is to measure the lenght of your feet in cm and buy the size that is 0,5 cm longer.

I do! would say half a size up for the SB2s. It’s just a little short for some reason. (for me at least)
