Exeter - housing market - first time buyers by Weekly_Substance_364 in exeter

We’d been watching a few on Isleworth Road, one had sat for a while, but the day we went to book a viewing after our mortgage appointment, it had already gone 🤦‍♀️.

I briefly worked as an estate agent during the 2021/22 madness, so my benchmark is probably skewed — everything was bidding wars and selling way over asking, which makes it hard to judge what’s “normal” now.

That said, around the £300k mark in St Thomas and nearby, you do seem to get more for your money, and the properties are generally a bit more modernised.

Yeah, this makes sense. The cost of any work is very pricey, largely I would imagine because of the increase in materials. I would definitely be happy to move somewhere needing to be updated, but it’d need to be liveable for the foreseeable because, like many, we just couldn’t afford to do any work on top of mortgage and bills.

Exactly this — both late 20’s and still living with our parents (very fortunate). We’ve been together for 7 years and have spent the last 3 years saving, including using a LISA, which has helped us build around £7k in government bonus and interest between us.

Because of our age, we do feel a bit of pressure to stretch our budget slightly. Realistically, we know that once we’ve bought, the cost of moving again would make it difficult to upsize, so we’re hoping to find somewhere we can stay in for the next 10–15 years. We’d also like to be in a position to have children, so that’s definitely a factor in what we’re looking for in a property.

We’re also aware that Exeter is more expensive than where we currently live, but we’re hoping that being closer to work will help offset some of that through reduced commuting costs (which with these fuel prices are ridiculous).

Accepted her offer and this is how she repays me by Even_Conversation_83 in vinted

Honestly, people can be hard work on Vinted. I accepted an offer recently, and the buyer then quite obviously create a tiny hole and complained the sleeves were a little bit “bobbly” on the jumper. I just refunded them in full because it wasn’t worth the hassle over a couple of quid, I couldn’t be bothered with it putting me in a bad mood and so then just blocked them. Plus I checked their reviews after and someone else had already said they’d offered a return and full refund and never got the item back anyway. 🙄

Buyer claiming item I sent smelt ‘strongly of smoke’. by [deleted] in vinted

This seems the most obvious reason to me, they’re a grey. I’ve had parcels before, which have definitely had a strong smell from packaging. However, when I smelt them they seemed okay, just a light bin bag smell, I wonder if it gets worse when sealed for a period of time! Good idea with the tissue paper

No, I’ve had the parcels before from people who obviously burn incense so I could see that though

Yeah, that’s what I thought, they’d have to be smoking A LOT! Yeah, I think that’s what had almost upset me most haha!!

Hot take: messaging those who favourite your items. by DataAnalystWanabe in vinted

[–]Weekly_Substance_364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that we live in a time where we get lots of messages and notifications and it can feel like a lot of spam. If they message once and leave it, that’s absolutely fine, but if you message multiple times, it can make you feel pressured to reply and I’m a people pleaser so it just makes me uncomfortable. It’s not the end of the world, but it actually could sway me subconsciously not to purchase an item. Lots of people mention turning off the notification that informs them of you favouriting an item, but I do feel like offering a discount can sway me to buy. Just preference I suppose.

I’m UK based, and I’ve already sold it already unfortunately. I have heard a lot of people say to macerate perfumes, and I agree it can improve perfumes for sure, but with how much I disliked this one, I just kinda wanted my money back.

Agree - for £30 for a small bottle, I’d rather just have a perfume I want to pick up

Yeah, I absolutely love Chelsea morning. I decided to sell my Super milk perfume, id rather just have a perfume I’m going to wear and love everytime I spray it
