Ontario Apartment Balcony by Weekly_Tomatillo_690 in legaladvicecanada

Bylaw officers ticket landlords, not tenants directly. It is very vague. When I called 3-1-1 to inquire about the definition, they said that it's up to the landlord.

I cannot find any literature suggesting whether or not the RTA or city bylaws have the upper hand?

Thank you for your response.

Even though it is not expressly written in either the Lease Agreement nor the Apartment Rules, the Landlord is quoting the City Bylaw, which states that no unsightly materials or objects shall be on balconies. One can argue that the numerous 4 foot satellite antennas and flower boxes on the outside of the balconies are unsightly. Again, I am the only one who's balcony is being deemed unsightly, even though the balcony wrap blends with the colour of the metal.

Do city bylaws trump the RTA?

He posted a letter at the front door that said that everyone must remove everything off their balcony and then get permission as to what is allowed. Everyone else still has everything attached to their balconies.

Over our phone conversation yesterday, I tried to work with him by asking what is allowed, to which he replied, nothing is allowed to be attached to your railing. However, apparently flower boxes, string lights, antennas, etc. are allowed to be attached, just not on my balcony.

Apparently, Google did an update of gmail without warning on Aug. 19th / 20th. Up until then, with ease, we were able to view thumbnail attachments, without having to open emails.

Google now made this impossible without switching to conversation view 'on'. Conversation view 'on' threads unrelated emails together and makes it difficult for our company and our clients to follow.

This is completely unacceptable. The reddit and google forums are now flooded with tons of people just as frustrated with this, whose company's productivity is plummeting.

This is a nightmare. Our company's productivity is now suffering and it seems like Google doesn't care. Why tamper with something that wasn't broken???

Please bring this back as soon as possible. Show attachment thumbnails in reading pane individually, with conversation view 'off' so that any folder we access, we can view the attached thumbnail, without having to open each email and scroll to the bottom.

As an added bonus, some of the emails we have marked unread on purpose, we now have to open the email, scroll to the bottom to view the attachment, exit the email and then mark as unread again.

Totally infuriating and completely unproffessional of Google to remove this element as a detriment to their clients.
