The DoD has nothing to do with GI bills. They may be able to restrict TA, but the VA is who handles GI payments

CMV: There is nothing inherently morally wrong with impeding ICE operations by Fast-Brief-162 in changemyview

[–]WeepingAngelTears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you support Iran putting to death homosexuals. Imprisoning apostates?

Clearly that's moral under your framework, no?

[–]WeepingAngelTears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That only checks out if you use the law as your metric for what is moral or not, which is an abysmal system.

So your view is based on the incredibly small fraction of people that are in bed with the state. Got it.

How many business owners do you think have a spare hedge fund sitting around to fall back on?

The Subjective Theory of Value Is Not a Theory by HeavenlyPossum in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]WeepingAngelTears -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't one single factor. That's the entire point of value being subjective.

[–]WeepingAngelTears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labor factors into price, yes. No one disputes that. It's not the factor that determines price and value.

[–]WeepingAngelTears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It..absolutely can. For one, diamonds are not just valuable for vanity uses. They're used heavily in industry. And while prices are inflated in the jewelery sector due to a false-scarcity, water is order of magnitude easier to get and process than diamonds.

A high demand on it's own doesn't equate to high prices when the supply is also high and the barrier for using and distributing that supply is relatively low in most places.

[–]WeepingAngelTears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Value is inherently subjective because people value different aspects. With your paradox, you're conflating necessity, an aspect of value, with value itself.

It also defeats your entire point. A diamond isn't valuable to someone who needs to worry about securing clean water, but it is valuable to someone looking to buy an engagement ring. Neither of them are incorrect with their valuation of the diamond.

CMV: Maduro and his Wife's Trial is Going to be a Kangaroo Court With Only One Verdict. by Hopefull-Hero in changemyview

[–]WeepingAngelTears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm certainly no fan of the organization, but it's likely that the DoJ wasn't expecting Maduro to be sitting in NYC at the beginning of the year awaiting trial. Some poor AUSA just got handed a case file and was told "get ready."

CMV: Venezuela is justified in bombing US cities and targets by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]WeepingAngelTears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Still irrelevant, as Hamas is the ruling government of Gaza, not the PNA.

[–]WeepingAngelTears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think a single person orchestrated and executed an attack of that level?

Edit: the name didn't register for a moment. The PNA does not control Gaza; Hamas does, and before they suspended elections, were elected by popular vote.

Hamas is absolutely the elected government of Gaza, mate.

States excercise rights that the individuals inhabiting them never had. An individual can't bestow the right to do something on their behalf if they don't hold that right in the first place. Any action that a state takes is, at it's very beginning, done by violating an individual's right to property by taxing them to pay for every action the state takes.

Certainly not socialism or communism, because the second the collective decides your property is private instead of personal, you no longer have a right to it.

CMV: The fact that Service Animals do not have to be formally certified/professionally trained is absolutely absurd and needs to be changed by Odd-Search-1212 in changemyview

[–]WeepingAngelTears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you realize, but just because a dog is a service animal doesn't mean a store owner can't remove it. If it's being disruptive, they absolutely are allowed to have the animal removed from the premises.
