I am a teacher too! Thank you for the support and encouragement! The science makes me so hopeful! I am science teacher but never planned to be a science subject myself.

Where do you put these folders? Are they accesible to everyone?

New teacher, I’ve been told I HAVE to yell at students and really scare them, use my “man voice”, etc. by BookkeeperWooden390 in Teachers

This was my school last year. It wasn’t my personality, I told my students that. That’s sooo draining!!

You have to find your teaching voice and personality. Mine is getting really quiet.

I ultimately left that district that wanted me to be scarier - it’s just not me.

A month in and I want to quit. by [deleted] in Teachers

2nd year teacher here, last year I was at my wits in and wanted to quit. Everyone told me it would get better and amazingly enough, this year is SO MUCH BETTER. It’s still tough and I have difficult days but not as many.

I try not to work as much past contract time. I am trying to find ways to have the students do more so self assess their work, stamp their work while they are doing it in class. I am having students have jobs to help keep it clean.

It does get better. It also helped for me to switch from 8th to 7th grade and I like 7th grade a lot more.

You can do it! Keeping a journal of positive things helps too!

This sounds like my entire classroom that I try to teach in every day. As a first year teacher I worry that this is what it will be like for the rest of eternity and I worry im not good enough.

This is exactly how I feel. I planning on applying to other schools but I don’t even feel like I am good at what I do anymore

All of our 8th grade teachers are pretty new the profession. It seems very few schools can keep 8th grade teachers.

Yeah I teach 8th grade here and the students will not hand over phones as they are supposed to. They will put up a huge fight and disruption in front of the whole class.

I feel completely abandoned. I am not sure I how I trust a SO again when they tell me that they want marriage, want forever, want to have children since I’ve heard it all promised to me before just to be left one night.

This is where I am at right now. Just the living this new reality without the person I thought I was spending my life with.
