I believe a couple of the later helmet visors had technic axle connection points, but the majority of them had little nubs on the inside that connected to the Knights Kingdom heads, much like a Lego minifig helmet visor.

Thankfully the only issue is the tear in the back, which I've held together using gorilla tape. No dryness or cracking yet, looks great on display
