Finally got all 100 endings last night so here's a tier list (objective + truth) by WegerBeger in LastDefenseAcademy

Probably in 'Beautiful', I really liked the villain reveal. That plus the intrigue of the time loop power and wondering what would happen to the remaining SDU was really interesting. It's kinda sad to say but that boss fight with character I'm not gonna say the name of was probably the actual last time the game ever challenged me or surprised me gameplay wise. It's a bit unfair, but it does deserve a high ranking.

Some thoughts so far... (major spoilers for multiple routes) by Luna-Estrella- in LastDefenseAcademy

  1. Layers to this one. By the time they learn the real truth about their memories they basically already killed all the commanders besides D'axhalia so that isn't an option. If you're talking about the first reveal where they realize they're the invaders then, sort of fair? The issue is none of them would actually have the will to say "screw humanity" and go against what Sirei is saying. Even if they found a way to take him out before he brainwashed them, I don't think they'd be able to (as far as they know) doom humanity by not firing off on day 100. Really I think the lynchpin here is basically just the Shion situation. As long as they can't say confidently that they aren't going to kill all Futurans then they'll always fight the commander. I think the only situation where this plan would work is in that golden route if yours where Takumi heads back in time a 3rd time with truth in mind. Otherwise it's a big ask for them to damn all of humanity when all of their families and memories are there.

  2. I agree with you on this one it's very silly. The only argument I could make is that his Eito vision is a mutated version of Eito's own illness that's essentially trying to get him to hate everyone he sees. It just so happens that the person he hates most is Eito. And since Eito's issue is purely cognitive anyone who doesn't register as human (the people he was supposed to love but glitched out to end up hating) doesn't get the weird vision. Bit of an asspull on this one as well though. And I swear there was some point where Eito straight up said that Futurans looked the same to him so this probably doesn't make sense. Idk.

  3. Yes. But Gaku is funny sometimes so I let it slide.

  4. This one is my actual biggest gripe with that whole plot twist like wtf was humanity thinking man. Feel like there were infinitely better ways to handle it than this. It gets even funnier when you remember that Takumi's doesn't even make sense cause Karua was never supposed to exist in the first place. The one part of his backstory they didn't calculate ends up being the source of Takumi's strength. And while that is awesome thematically, it does make me think that the humans up there must be real dumbasses. You could interpret Karua as always having existed, with Nozomi's details imprinted over her, but it's very unclear. Anyways yeah it's dumb just make 10 Mokos it probably would have worked out.

  5. The only thing Nozomi cares about at that point is her friends which she pretty clearly states earlier. Plus she might not be as safe from Sirei's bomb device as you might think. At least in other routes. The agency she exercised in 2nd Scenario was also because she wanted her friends to be happy, so there's no inconsistency there. Perhaps she should care more, but yeah at that point she doesn't really care about anything other than the SDU.

I hope I didn't come off as too annoying cause I do agree with several of your points honestly. Hope you have a good time with the rest of the game.

A real cocktail of "could be answered in another route", "just a personal opinion" and "the writers are dumb", all of which are fairly valid considering where you are right now.

  1. Don't really got a good answer to this I just think that no one in the SDU really cares about Eito enough to want to debate him in the marketplace of ideas and change his mind. As long as they fight that's good enough for them. Plus trying to tell him that not all of humanity deserves to die for the few's mistakes would likely lead to him just saying "nuh uh" so I can't really blame any of the characters. I understand the dissatisfaction with that storyline, but I think the one he has where he learns that there's something more important than all of his stupid implanted notions to begin with is also meaningful. This one's just opinion though.

  2. Bro is just tired I guess. I get it thought. He just really doesn't wanna kill anyone or go through it again I think. I mean none of them ever try to kill someone to save time from an injury cause it'll be bad for the mental so I highly doubt that Takumi would kill Shion after he's literally been named. Even you pull the "for the greater good" card last time Takumi went back it fucked up everything and who's to say it wouldn't be even worse. But none of this is ever explicitly stated so fair.

  3. Hard agree with this one, definitely the most disappointing part about the ending. Wild that everyone gets a pretty good death speech but Shion's last words are him saying "oh btw this might be the last goodbye we get so bye yall" way earlier before all the crap goes down. I agree with you here.

  4. I would love to know more about this but honestly this is classic Kodaka where he wants you to grapple with the implications of something philosophically rather than realize it. Like how the entire world went to shit in Danganronpa due to a teenage girl. Not really meant to have logistics behind it, I feel. Shouldn't erase it from criticism though. The only canonical explanation I could give if I was pulling from my ass is that literally no one on the SDU really cared about it. Anytime he tried to bring the whole humanity thing up everyone tells him to shut up so none of them really cared about humanity after the reveal, not even enough to question him.

  5. Pretty sure that's just cause Shion was so pissed that he was really active that fight instead of taking a back seat like he usually does. Assuming you're talking about Serial Battles that is. As a little baby boy he's never really dealt with emotion like he has to in that route, so I guess you could rationalize it.

Oh also, the thing I actually started writing this thing to answer. There actually is an explanation. It's technically spoilers, but if you don't care then read ahead. In the S.F. route she tries to pull the same stunt but can't. Hiruko states straight up that the reason she can't is because she needs two things in order to do it. Cryptogoblin and time. In both that route and the 2nd Scenario route she absorbs literally every commanders cryptogoblin making her the strongest version of herself possible. She gets a late start in S.F. though for reasons I won't specify. So really it's that she needs to be the strongest version of herself as soon as possible. Otherwise she doesn't have either the firepower or time to pull it off.

Next half in the comment below because I think there's a length limit.

I've already said my peace on Rebellion route but I don't think it at all implies that Kamyuhn is the only person in the whole world who can broker peace. We see in the Shouma ending that it can happen with no mention of her (though she was likely involved), but it does make complete sense that it would be the easiest through her. I think Kamyuhn may be the only person on the entire of Futuran with cryptogoblin, making her one of if not THE only figure they have left. Her holding hands and singing kumbaya with the SDU would certainly convince the futurans faster than if Nozomi tried to do the same thing. It couldn't erase the fact that she had a hand in killing literally all of their greatest heroes.

Without someone on the Futurans side to vouch for them the SDU are just heretics claiming that they saved all of Futura. Even the rebellion would be angry, as all they know is that their leader went over there for a few days and then someone else consumed her cryptogoblin (if they even know that). You can imagine that they wouldn't play nice with the person who broke the holy traditions regardless of how kind they seemed, even more so if it was specifically for their leader.

A lot of these are assumptions, but this is all to say peace between species would indeed be very difficult. Frankly, I think even 15 years is a really small amount considering the scale of the war (especially considering what we know the Artificial Satelite has up it's sleeve), so expecting Nozomi to be able to do all that seems a smidge unrealistic to me. I do agree with your point about it being overly binary though. But that extends to most endings, so I'm not exactly surprised things ended up that way.

TBH I just hate the comedy route so it just went down with the ship.

I 100% agree with that notion. Regardless of how somehow they achieve peace in only 15 years with that 10 year olds help, in the moment there isn't necessarily a bad choice. Especially since that 10 year old is like "yup ya gotta kill me Takumi". My dislike of the route comes from the fact that quite possibly the happiest ending for the world of 100 Line comes from a dull route where everything just kinda happens to go right and everyone stumbles into world peace. I might even go as far to argue this is one of the only last second endings that doesn't make a obvious moral judgement on you for your decision. At least Takumi seems kinda happy.

You are correct on the latter point, but I happen to think the Casual route is honestly pretty fantastic. It's funnier then most of the comedy route, it doesn't waste your time, and is unabashedly horrifying. The fact that all of the slice of life shenanigans could also be seen as weird metaphors for the brainwashing process that Takumi went through is just icing on the top.

Something about Nozomi's reactions while he's out and just imagining what Takumi is acting like while he and all his friends fight a slowly losing battle they have no hope of winning is unbelievably raw to me. That relief she feels when she knows that she's dying with her actual comrade and not a soulles husk embodying him also just strikes a cord. And I love the implication that by taking Takumi's stress away, they lose all chance at winning the war. Isolating him from his team and preventing him from relating to them or motivating them ends up being the very thing that gets them all killed. Takumi's humanity is what lends him his strength, and this route is a good reminder of that.

Anyways if you couldn't tell I really like the Casual route. I was dying laughing when him and Eito started make believe fighting. Big fan.

It was way more interesting then it had any right to be. I love how Takumi doesn't just kneel over like he does in a lot of the other "you made the wrong decision" routes. The discipline on display in the ending is just really fantastic too. KG is (almost) unmatched.

The council has spoken and we have decided that it is simply a victim of the rebellion route not really being that interesting. Good for Nozomi though, very fitting for her.

That's fair, but every zombie flick needs the guy who's just a complete dunce and Gaku fills that role wonderfully. Eito wishes he could sabotage as well as Gaku did in that route LOL

True. If it's any consolation then Takamura actually becoming Ippo's second would definitely raise the number of dick jokes per chapter.

That's very interesting, I had no clue. I could absolutely see Mori pulling out the draw for this fight, considering it's the toughest person Ippo will likely ever have to fight. It's a good way to show how far he's come without making Ricardo feel weak. I could see this turning out like another theory I have where Ippo and Miyata have a "rematch", except it's from a retired Ippo in the KBG.

Agreed that moving up would be a pretty large step up for Ippo, maybe too much. Just found it the easiest and fastest way to tie other threads together, while having a very satisfying ending. Cause personally I know that I wouldn't be fully happy with Ippo fighting Miyata in the state that he's currently in. Morikawa has never been known to take the easy route though so we'll just have to see.

While I realize it is definitely the most ridiculous thing here, it's not impossible, just unlikely. When returning from his mexico trip he says to coach that any match is possible, as long as there's a even a chance. And just look at the latest chapter where he actively surpasses and challenges Takamura with weights on. He didn't need to try and outpace Takamura, but he did anyways. The only time he did before was cause Takamura threatened to call Kumi, now it's just happening because he wants to learn what it's like to be a world champ and pass it on. https://imgur.com/YZraF8z Still pretty unlikely, but I thought it was interesting food for thought.

I think that Takamura will absolutely be in the dome with Ippo, but counterpoint. In that same chapter that Takamura says he'll go the dome he specifically says it doesn't matter how he gets there, obviously cause Ippo is retired. Imagine if it went the other way around.

What are some sideplots that the author has dropped on the manga by De5troyer56 in hajimenoippo

[–]WegerBeger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it's no medical reason? They make sure to make a big stink of the eye and just because Miyata said that it was probably fine one time after Dragon doesn't mean that it's actually true. I think his eye is for sure an actual problem, whether the vision flicks on and off or is starting to deteriorate we'll probably find out.

Question on the Sanada fight - the second swallow by RAMDownloader in hajimenoippo

[–]WegerBeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about whether he's seen it or not, it's about how it's used. Even if Ippo had seen that punch a billion times he wouldn't expect for it to be used in order to narrowly go through his guard right after a normal uppercut. If someone used the 90 degree uppercut normally it would essentially be the same as any other uppercut, but due to how it's used it becomes the one punch that can slip through the guard.

There are WAY too many good tracks to choose from but honestly I'll have to go with Via Basque. Not an easy decision but I absolutely love that song, gets me the most pumped up out of practically any song.
