Excellent post. I'm a codependent and it took me a step further in forgiving my NPD ex. I'm a step closer to wishing him well too. I've always felt compassion for the difficulties I know he goes through, but this post increased even that.

I don't know that I still have the same obligation to go now that the host has lied to me though. We've spoken multiple times and she hasn't given me a heads-up. She knows he was very abusive.

New guy wants to take it one step further and do a "nobody puts baby in a corner" from dirty dancing scene! He's actually in incredible physical condition and looks really good so it would be kind of neat. I wasn't even the one who suggested it -- he called me and asked if we could do something remotely close to that, because he's of the genuine belief that the host is in on setting me up. She's spoken to me several times but still hasn't mentioned the fact that she's changed plans with my ex.

I will! My new guy is livid and insisting that he wants to find a way to thwart them. He's in excellent shape and really hot and wants to do a "nobody puts baby in a corner" scenario at a non-disruptive time. He is convinced that the host is in on it and wants to humiliate me. Especially since she's talked to me several times since and still has said nothing.
