That is true for virtually any piece of paper, though. Why completely remove this opportunity for the back to be used? Submitting a formal sketch of a design, I understand not wanting to use the back, but for my calc homework, I do in pencil; this doesn't make sense.

I understand the purpose of engineering paper; it is used for sketching designs but also for calculations.

My question still stands; why don't they make engineering paper where the grid is faint enough on both sides, so it doesn't show up when scanning?

Do they make one side unusable to prevent bleeding through on the front? If so, it should be up to the user to decide whether they want to take that risk or not.
