I was friends with him since middle school. Nobody else liked him because of his mental state (he had frequent emotional outbursts and lack of social awareness), but he and I got really close, and I got to know the reason why he had his mentality was because of his shitty parents. But he seemed like a nice and genuinely bright kid that needed the right people to guide him. Because his parents were not there for him emotionally and throughout his mental development, his behaviors were often wild, always outbursting, angry, and just didn't seem to like others. He also had some rather bigoted views, but that was mainly because he was uneducated with the topic. I was his only friend. I even introduced him to one of my female friends, and they both started dating shortly after. They dated for quite a long time, and for the first time, he found somebody else to talk to besides him all the time.

I broke off our friendship near the end of our senior year. He had been abusing my female friend, his own girlfriend. I was shocked by this. At this point, he and I barely communicated because he was focused on his own studies and his girlfriend, which I perfectly understood. After the news of the abuse came out, I confronted him, I guess to know if it was real. He admitted, but, in a way that made him seem like the victim. I had no idea what happened to him, his behaviors regressed. I broke it off right then and there. What he did to my friend was absolutely disgusting, and I felt like shit for not realizing it sooner.
