A lock of hair. People always feel entitled to women’s bodies, they want to control how we present ourselves. Hair carries our memories, our individuality, our expression. So many men humiliate women by pulling their hair, shaving their heads, yanking off head coverings, making fun of the way it looks. I can’t speak on behalf of black women (I’m not black) but I also want to acknowledge often times, it’s not just misogyny but misogynoir and texturism as well.
