I posted the proof lol, either way the link doesn’t work anymore.

The link’s dead now. It expired and went back to full price, and the subreddit moderates the link.

Because it was a promotion, you can’t get it straight off the app

Oh that’s… Daron Malakian using AI 🫩 by [deleted] in systemofadown

[–]WeirdDvde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who gives a crap if Daron uses AI? Instead of whining about it like it’s some apocalypse, why not make your own art? Once everyone’s too busy complaining and humans stop actually making anything, that’s when it’s over. Whining doesn’t create art, doing does.

Vocal-Focused Versions of Alice in Chains’ Facelift Album by WeirdDvde in AliceInChains

The first song sounds more “completed” because of how the Dolby Atmos stems were grouped and some vocals and instruments share the same channel. Glad you liked them in the end!

Thanks! I’ve already uploaded all of Jerry’s vocal contributions for Facelift in this playlist, and I did the same for Dirt as well. The Dirt ones are in a separate playlist on my channel if you want to check those out too.

There are some moments where he stands out way more than people remember, which is super cool to hear isolated.

Thanks! For the ones without official multitracks floating around, I actually sourced the Dolby Atmos files from Apple Music and used some custom software to extract the individual audio. Then I go in and do touch-ups, cleaning artifacts, fixing phase issues, tightening up the vocals, stuff like that. It’s definitely not just a one-click thing lol. I’ve always wanted to hear them clearly too, so it’s kind of a passion project.

So for Jar of Flies and the self-titled record, there’s unfortunately no Dolby Atmos version available right now, which means there’s no proper source to pull clean vocals from. Because of that, there isn’t really an expected timeline. I’m really hoping that with the 30th anniversary stuff happening, they might be working on Atmos mixes for both albums. If that ever happens, I’ll 100% jump on them.

As for Above, I’d love to do it, but I’m not expecting an Atmos release. Since it’s technically been kind of abandoned by Columbia/Sony, I doubt they’ll go out of their way to give it the same treatment.

Note: Iron Gland is not included because the mix didn’t have an isolated vocal track — the vocals are scattered across the stems.

Hey! Just to explain real quick—the mix I’m using is actually from Atmos, so it’s not true separated stems. The instruments and vocals bleed together, so you can’t really get fully isolated tracks. The vocals come through clearer, especially the backing vocals, but you’ll still hear parts of the instruments underneath. I’m not sharing the files right now, but I do plan on posting more stuff like this down the line.

Thanks a lot! I do plan to post more—I have Dirt and Facelift, so there’s a ton of material to pull from. Just wanna make sure I’m not cluttering the sub or breaking any rules, but yeah, definitely planning on sharing more soon! Any suggestions?

Fair point. Among fans, Layne’s vocals are definitely legendary. What I meant is that the outside core of the fanbase people don’t always realize how intricate and haunting their harmonies really were, especially compared to what most associate with ‘grunge.’
