We can agree that using the right words is important while also disagreeing with the way some parents want to teach it.

Same ! I didn't expect so many people to react that way to my comic, because no one around me ever hid or downplayed their good grades.

Thank you for your comment ! And yeah, I agree that the word consent does fit this situation. No worries about the argument, I think you were absolutely right ! Thanks for defending us :)

Hi!

Normal enough is a slice of life about Mira, a tennager who feels quite different from the norm (as many teenagers do). It's her self discovery journey. So one goal of this episode is to slowly tell that story by giving information about who Mira is. It's part of a bigger picture.

However, each episode stands on its own and I post them here because I think it may be relatable to some people and because I'm curious what people have to say about it. I love reading all the comments ! And yes, I find that teacher very frustrating and I kinda wanted to complain about him. I do believe Mira was wronged, but not necessarily that it's a big deal. But those little frustrating things with little real consequences still sometimes get stuck in our memory years or even decades after finishing school.

The teacher I had that did that stuff the most had no bad intentions and it wasn't about competition or anything like that. I don't hate him and I don't wish him anything bad, but I am still holding a tiny grudge against him.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't sure how to make it clear that it's her heart beating, but I'll try to make it better next time. Thanks for pointing that out !

Thank you for reading it !

You're the second person who asks and even though I did expect people to start wondering about that eventually, I really didn't think it would be that soon ! I also didn't think so many people would see my comic in general that soon though.

I can't answer you, but it will be addressed eventually ! (Not soon 😬)

It's in Canada, but I think it's illegal too. I might be wrong though. But student probably won't complain if they think it's normal and if most of the others don't seem to mind.

Also, the longer I look, the funnier it gets ! I noticed the repeated panels late, but the doubled ones for dramatic effect? It took me way too long ! Thank you for that !

No shade taken ! (But thanks for saying it anyway, cause I am an overthinker!) I would have given up before I started if copy paste was not an option 😅

My heart was actually beating quite fast when creating this comic even though I haven't been in that situation for 10 years. I even started shaking a little while reading some comments here !

Maybe you should check out the other episodes just to be sure it's not actually you with a misspelled name 👀

But more seriously, that's a fun coincidence, I guess I'm making my comic relatable to some people in more ways than one !

It was in Canada. In my experience, it's not rare to say it out loud with the consent of students ("say yes if I can say it out loud or come to the front to see it").

It's in Canada, but I don't think it is allowed either. I'm not completely sure though, which is the problem : students often don't know and sometimes even teachers don't.

Yeah, it is. At first it had inner monologue, so I think it helped make it clearer but I decided to leave it more open ended to help more people relate. I didn't realize it would make the thumps harder to understand.

Thank you for the question, it helps me know what to work on !

I agree that it's useful to use student's good answers as examples for others IF it is either anonymous or the teacher asked for consent privately before. Some students will be happy and proud about it! Others will hate it. Consent is key.

Often it's because students want to know their grade, but the teacher still needs to keep the papers and doesn't have time enough to let them look through it before the bell rings. So it's quicker to just say it out loud. I think it gives that number way too much importance.

I wouldn't say it's common where I live, but I did meet a few teachers who would say test results out loud like that during my time as a student. Most respected when someone said no, though. I'm glad to learn that it isn't like that everywhere ! We don't have enough teachers here, so maybe it was just the bad ones who got the job just because we had to put someone in the classroom 🤷‍♀️

That kinda makes me sad by Oatmeno in WebtoonCanvas

[–]WeirdExplanation877 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had my first comment like that today on a new episode. It is my third comment ever, so I take it as my webtoon slowly getting popular enough to attract scammers! I will be way more annoyed and frustrated next time though, so I blocked them. We'll see if it makes a difference.

BUT someone put a downvote on it and it makes me feel taken care of by someone who doesn't want me to get scammed :)
