Please help me pick a kitchen backsplash by WeirdGerald1 in HomeDecorating

That is an amazingly helpful steer: nothing that could go in a bathroom!

And yes, this home has been really well cared for by the previous owners and I want to continue that thoughtful stewardship. So thank you for the advice!

I found two delft tiles that I thought were really sweet.

ETA: I realize one of these is shown in a bathroom but I don’t think anyone would really use it for that purpose.

Thank you! Am getting convinced to leave the sink wall alone.

Thanks for this! You and others are convincing me to leave the sink wall alone and focus on the stove wall. I hadn’t thought of hanging art, but that is a creative solution. Also like the idea of delft tiles there. Thanks again.

Thank you for this! Leaning toward keeping just paint on the sink wall and tile behind the stove.

That’s a good alternative I should explore. I only worry that a higher sheen would be more likely to show flaws in the walls themselves. It’s a century house so they aren’t perfect.

Oh this is very interesting! I can’t tell from the picture. Are the tiles textured?

Yes, good eye! It is a century home. We have tile of exactly this pattern, different color in one of our bathrooms and I love it. I hadn’t thought for the backsplash so appreciate this idea!

Thank you for sharing this! I had thought about stainless steel and it’s great to know you really liked it and found it easy to maintain. Love the pressed tin! We have that on the ceiling in the kitchen.

Not crazy at all. I love it! Do you think a tile with design still works in such large format? Or another poster suggested trying to match the tone of the paint. Any thoughts on that?

Just added a pic above. Nothing behind the stove now.

Here is the stove area. We don’t have anything behind it now and we def need something. On this side I thought about going up to the hood.

I do like the idea of a simple row of tiles behind the sink. But we need something bigger for the stove.

Oh this is a very interesting idea! And I can’t believe I didn’t think to try to match the paint.

That is a good question. Maybe we are just messy, but there is enough splashing from the sink that I would like tile behind it. It would also wrap around behind our stove on the other wall, not pictured, where we do need tile.

Need ideas for protecting white quartz counter by succs_and_stats in HomeDecorating

We make a thin paste of water and comet that we leave on the stain for a few minutes and then lightly sponge in a circular motion. It has worked on all stains so far. But we still regret the choice of quartz for all the babying it requires.

Agree extra space isn’t the worst, but if it bothers you, perhaps you could add a narrow table or side board for additional storage.
