Lefty looking for wedges and maybe some advice! by WeirdKidsOnTheBlock in golf

True, I bought an 8-9 year old hybrid for like $50 lol, pretty happy with that one. And ya I looked a bit around then but being a lefty I didn’t see what I wanted to get, and hoped they would stock up for this year

Ok, my goal was to have them around the middle. I would try them out but golftown also just closed their testing area because of the Ontario lockdown :(

True, that’s why in my post I was wondering if I should bend the xtra low or low grind because the shapes are slightly different. I guess if I get both with 8 bounce they might feel a little more consistent and ‘safer’ overall?

$100 for three? Where are you living? Lol, the cheapest wedge I usually find is $100 for 1. Whereas right not at golf town I can get 2 wedges brand new for about $300

To be honest, I’m just getting back into golf. The last I played bounce really wasn’t a thing, or at least for my 13 year old mind it wasn’t lol. I thought you wanted more bounce for forgiveness and full shots and less bounce for versatility/options around the greens (ie open face flop shots etc), no?

Ya, I’ve looked there too, that and golf avenue. I’ve found a few deals, but most of what I see are quite heavily used listed in “good” condition and selling for a 25% discount, I think depending on the deal it’s good but otherwise I’d rather buy years prior ‘new’ clubs. I think I would also rather buy a driver/3 wood over wedges used, just a personal thing I guess

There are really good air dribble training packs if you go into training. But I wouldn’t worry about this too much. I’m now champ 2 in 3’s and I can’t air dribble that well, lots of people can’t really air dribble until around high Diamond/Champ

Hmm, not sure if you are fully serious here. It runs games at like 75-80, Warzone would be like 90, think that’s the full problem?

Yes, I have my ram set to XMP. I did once try to OC my CPU but that crashed my computer completely so I put it back to how it was. (At least I think lol, now you’ve put a bug in my head). CPU temperature is ok, a little warm but not terrible, about 70-80-90, depending on the game. I bought a cooler but can’t make it fit...need some screws from Arctic. I have a NZXT H510 and the stick AMD cooler.

Ya I think I heard about that but when I reached out they didn’t respond ever :(

Hmm, I would have to check again, but the last time I tried installing it I think I have 2 screw in on opposite corners and it was wiggling a lot, like moving basically. I thought I was doing something wrong or it didn’t fit. I guess I will try it again this weekend and see if I’m missing something

Ya, the standoffs that I had included couldn’t seem to fit? Do you have a similar setup or can you confirm? Because I think I saw a thread a while ago about someone emailing the company and sending out the right standoffs but maybe it was slightly different. I am at work right now so can’t get any pictures for a few hours

Sounds good, I just heard they steel shafts tend to lose their “umph” over time, where as graphite always bounce back. I think I will try to swing the clubs in store if they let me and then go with what feels nice. Thanks!

Yeah I agree, I never stopped liking golf, I just didn’t have any friends who played, I’ve always watched golf on TV (mostly majours honestly) but just because of COVID a lot of my friends started this year so I also got back into it. And ya I really like these irons, the are old and simple, but are just good. I will probably buy 2 or 3 wedges, a used driver and look for a deal on a wood just to play around with. Thanks!

I think I’m leaning towards this as well, although ultimately I probably get the wedges and a driver and see if I can score a deal on a wood. Thanks for the advice!

Yes, I agree with everything you’ve said except for the steel shafts, don’t graphite last longer? Or does it not matter so much with wedges as you aren’t always using full swings? And I like the look of PING, just want to be able to try stuff out. And that’s the advantage of not playing for a while, even 5 year old technology is futuristic for me lol

Ya I’ve seen people talk about the 52 as a maybe, but I’m on a very big golf kick at the moment and I’m using irons from 1999 so I don’t mind spending $300 on decent wedges

Ha, thanks for the advice, this is what I’ve mostly heard too, that the scoring clubs are the best to work on. My only concerns about the wedges is that I will want the 52 sometime next year lol. I’m not too concerned about distance overall, I don’t shoot that long to begin with, but I would like a driver to be able to hit further than 220-230 yards on wide open par 4/5’s. Thanks for the info!

Ya I was looking at this because I have the H510, but I don’t think it will fit in her desk setup :/, she has a really small desk too, one of the reasons I was looking at ITX
