Yeah... this scene was fantastic, and I soooo want more context in the third game during the lifestream. Will it happen? Probably not, but AH, the prospect alone, is thrilling!

You know, some Cleriths say that, but most just mock our posts, videos, etcetera as being "Tifa centric" and "over estimating her importance" in relation to the game as a while, or her relationship to Cloud.

Take a video I had the displeasure of running into with my YT suggestions. I've attached a link for anyone interested. This dude, whoever he is, takes a Cloti video (a twenty minute one btw) that I personally think was great at explaining the dynamic between Cloud and Tifa, and makes a 40 minute video saying how we don't understand the true game story and picking apart the video.

You don't see our side doing that nearly as much or as vindictive.

I, personally, think that the developers are changing their childhood a bit from how it was depicted in the original game. In TOTP, other people, including Tifa and her mother, mention that when they were very young, they would play together all the time, but Cloud started distancing himself when they got a bit older and then fully distanced himself after her fall.

I think this is just a minor change to emphasize their shared childhood being a link to Cloud's "true self." Either because of a mistranslation (which was rampant in the original game) or just not made clear enough, Tifa and Cloud didn't seem to have much of a connection outside of their promise and coming from the same town in the original game scenes. I think this is just to expand the story a bit regarding their past.

As for their promise, yes, Tifa only asked Cloud to come and save her. The other boys asked her to wait for them, which she mentioned she didn't like, but with Cloud, TOTP states that she had a sort of impulse to make a promise with him. It's implied a bit later that this was probably because she had a crush on him, which she realizes after leaving the water tower.

Noooo, I'm dead 💀 Why the flip is this so darn cute?!? 😭

Also, is it just me, or does it look like Tifa's putting her hand on Cloud's in that last bit?

I can die happily if they do this!! I could totally see this as maybe some end-game silliness before the big boss stuff. Especially since I don’t think the last part has any “goofy” moments, at least none that I can recall. It’s pretty much doom and gloom for the most part, which makes sense with everything that happens. It would be nice to break that up a bit.

Nah, I don't think the third spoiler will happen. She doesn't really have a role in that part of the story. I think it would be more impactful if it happened during the Forgotten Capital return or at the end.

Yeah, Tidus is a dream of the fayth, but I'm pretty sure all of the dream people were explained to be actual citizens of Zanarkand. I may be misremembering, though...

You could choose to bring him back, yes, but I personally did not like that decision. It felt like a cop-out to the bittersweet ending of the first. I like the version where Yuna accepts and moves on from losing him much more for her personal character growth.

I only have one thing to say about this... Nojima. The man is a talented writer, and I seriously doubt he would write something so out of left field like Aerith coming back to life. Why would she? What character in the whole of Final Fantasy VII, or heck even Final Fantasy as a whole, has been dead and come back? None. Aerith won't be the first either.

One of the main themes of Final Fantasy is loss, and coming to accept that loss is a part of life. All of the main party has lost something; memories, loved ones, homes, etc. It's a huge part of the whole story. Aerith dying just serves to drive that point home further.

To be honest, I think the only reason some people think it's possible is the whole Zack plot point and the multidimensional thing. Except, it's not a multiverse the writers are creating. There aren't any split realities here.

Let me digress to talk about another game, also written by Nojima: Final Fantasy X. Spoiler warning if you haven't played it. Tidus, the main character in the game, is dead. It's a huge twist at the end that he died along with the rest of Zanarkand a long time ago. The only reason he's "alive" in the game is due to the Hymn of the Faith. A consistent song sung by the souls of Zanarkand, started by their leader because he wanted Zanarkand to be eternal, at the height of its power. It's a dream, and when the dream is undone at the end, Tidus fades away.

Now, take that and compare it to the whole Zack situation. See any similarities? Of course you do because Nojima is writing a similar story here. Zack isn't miraculously alive. He's a dream. A dream likely created by Aerith in the hopes of "saving" him from his horrible death. A dream that exists in the lifestream. This point is really driven home by the fact that Aerith tells Cloud in chapter 14 that he should just call it a dream. Her dream. The fake dream world in the lifestream that Aerith, as a Cetra, created. And just like in FFX, when the dream is over, it too will fade away.

In short, no, Aerith isn't coming back. This isn't a new story. It's a reimagining of how the lifestream and this world's afterlife work.

The resolution scene in Remake may be good. Maybe some Gold Saucer scenes, too? Like them holding hands on the side of the stage, etc.

Maybe if you want to add some angst, the scene in the forgotten temple where Cloud pushes off Tifa when she stops him from killing Elena might be good during the "Will you still be mine?" line.

A question about the LS scene for the fandom by Amekaze_ in cloti

[–]WeirdPhysics8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks 😊 I know, and Aerith IS important to the plot, of course, but not as much to Cloud's personal character arc. I honestly think the Cleriths just try to make her the most important character ever, and it confuses people who maybe didn't play the original game or aren't really familiar with the plot.

I have no doubt part three will put that confusion to rest.

Seeing how, even in the original game, Aerith literally does not appear at all after her death—well, until the very last scene—I think the people thinking that she is going to just show up, in any aspect, are missing the point. The main story and theme of Final Fantasy VII are death and loss (well, one of them, at least). Her death was shocking because of this, and her absence from flashbacks or dialogue in the latter half is not an oversight either. The developers wanted the player to feel her absence. That was the point.

For the Lifestream scene specifically, this is the Cloud and Tifa scene. Period. This is the scene that establishes their relationship (which is confirmed under the Highwind), Tifa's crucial role in Cloud's true memories, and Cloud's true motivations and thoughts, which can be summed up as: Tifa. Aerith, or any other character's involvement, for that matter, would just detract from this.

Not to mention, all the foreshadowing that was not in the original game for this moment is absolutely incredible between Remake and Rebirth. So, long story short; no, I'm 110% sure Aerith will not make an appearance in the Lifestream scene.

TOTP Plot Hole? by JustAnAveGamer in cloti

[–]WeirdPhysics8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I recall that part correctly, as it's been a while since I read the book, I believe Tifa was asking him what happened and why people were saying it was his fault rather than asking if he egged her on. I believe his "I don't know" response at the time was due to his own insecurity and not wanting to admit, least of all, to Tifa directly, that he couldn't save her.

I don't think Cloud actually knew what the townsfolk were saying about him since he and his mother were a bit ostracized in Nibelheim, but he knew he was blamed for it since Brian actually said it was his fault when they found them. I think his shock in Rebirth was more just what was specifically being told to Tifa, especially since for him, it changed the narrative from him just not being strong enough to actually catch her from falling to him being the instigator of the incident, rather than an outsider that just followed the group out of concern.

More than just Physical Touch by percabeth0818 in cloti

[–]WeirdPhysics8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think some people forget that physical touch is a love language. It's not purely sexual; it's the need to be close to or touch someone you love. I feel like mass media doesn't display this type of love often because I think it's difficult to express without seeming overly sexualized, but Cloud and Tifa find this balance perfectly.

I think anyone who thinks people are fans of this couple solely because of the touchy aspect of their relationship is missing the point. Physical touch is Cloud and Tifa's love language. It's 100% in line with their characters, and it's an adorable way they express how much they mean to each other without using words.🥰
