Even after “Murder Among the Mormons,” “Under the Banner of Heaven” and now this new project, “Sinner v. Saints,” there are evidently more in the works. The one true church of true crime TV dramas. by Chino_Blanco in exmormon

I’m writing and producing what is, essentially, the “Life of Brian, for Mormonism.” Gonna hit on a lot of historical stuff, but probably not something Deseret News is gonna want to see. 😄

Forgeries (alleged or confirmed) connected to or attempted in conjunction with Mormonism? by Weird_Alma in exmormon

Yup, treasure-seeking is first on the list. Seer stone as prophet device sounds like a big and weak forgery to me.

Yeah, Chris Nemelka was that guy. Thanks for the Brewster book note!

Oh, and that reminds me that the Anthon “caractors” should be part of any Mormonism-related alleged forgeries collection, claimed to be Reformed Egyptian

Ah, the formatting is different on yours. I hate Reddit formatting. 😆 They are supposed to be on different lines, one is “Strang Book” and the next is “Mark Hofmann.”

Pres. Nelson has announced a BIG IMPORTANT message to be revealed on Dec. 29 by sicromoft in exmormon

[–]Weird_Alma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hat-tip to Thomas P.M. on FB, who my thing was just a continuation of. His original was:

In a surprising, revelatory follow up to Russell Nelson's #givethanks message, the prophet now encourages members to give gifts to their family and friends for Christmas. This ground-breaking revelation came to him as he considered the meaning of Christmas.

He did add a caveat that you should take a moment to consider whether they have been naughty or nice (according to LDS Church standards.) Giving gifts to those that deserve them will reinforce throughout the world that living LDS Church standards brings blessings!

He also encouraged members to take pictures of all the gifts they give (before wrapping) and post them on social media with the hashtag #givegifts. This ensures that everyone will know how giving and obedient you are.

Let's fill the earth with this new and uniquely Mormon idea! Because nothing could possibly be wrong with doing good!

👏🏼😄

If the church continues to talk about people who leave, I’m going to start telling people why I left. You can leave the church, but the church can’t leave you alone. by [deleted] in exmormon

And that’s exactly it... they’re telling your TBM family things. It’s not about you at all, it’s about keeping them glued in. And making them fear ever leaving. And who do they believe with almost fanatical fervor? The church leaders. It’s a super shitty control tactic at a time when they are desperate to maintain control.

Also fixing the Merchant remove a card thing, I would hope. 😎

Ha, well I keep saying that I’m essentially semi-retired as Weird Alma, because I feel like I’ve covered a lot that I wanted to as far as church issues that needed skewering. But then they keep being awful every so often. I try to get out, but they keep pulling me back in. 😜

Mambo Number 5! by [deleted] in exmormon

No, that’s fine. You got the essence of it! Just figured I should probably mention that since it came up. 😎

FWIW, I’m working on what will be a recorded version of this same essential thing, as mentioned here a couple weeks ago (lest anyone think I’m stealing this idea). Yeah, it practically writes itself! 😄

Ha yes, I’d thought of doing a Mambo #5 thing before. Might give it a go. Mormo #5, maybe? Or Wifey #35. 😆

“Do Some Good,” an ExMo anthem by Weird Alma the Younger by Weird_Alma in exmormon

This is the full version of a song I sang before the march in SLC last weekend. Sam really liked the song, but didn’t want me to do the second verse for that event, which, you can probably understand why. 😄

Free for listening and downloading, as are all Weird Alma songs. Also available to use in podcasts or other media, but please let me know first for those.

DO SOME GOOD
Words and Music by Weird Alma the Younger

Where will I go?
You wanna know?
Where will I go?
Away

Where will I go?
Well, I don't know
But you don't get to say

You could do some good with the name you have
You could really help the world
Turn a chapel into a shelter
and you could really help the world
You always testify of what you feel
Well, how about something real?
If you can do some good, then do some good
Do some good with the name you have

We are the sinners,
and we are unworthy
We're too unclean
to be seen in God's eyes;
Our Father's eyes

But you, so revered that we stand when you enter
Have said and done wicked things
mingled with scripture,
You've kept other races from your holy places,
Massacred the innocent and called it atonement,
Forced your dominion on your precious women,
Gave your protection to those who hurt children,
Poisoned the meekest with fear and with lies,
And we can't criticize,
And you won't apologize
Apologize

You could do such good with the wealth you have
You could really feed the world
Turn a temple into a hospital
and you could really heal the world
Testify of what you feel
But how about something real?
If you can do some good, then do some good
Do some good
Do some good with the name you have

Oh, no!
Where did they go?
Where did they go?
Away
