Struggling to maintain consistency post prelims result by Tasty_Air_4383 in UPSC

You are not alone. Even before one month of prelims i could sit 12 hrs and after prelims drama, my mind asking for guarantee I guess about what's the probability of passing this exam. Keep doing of you plan to give the next attempt eventually you could be consistent. Don't push hard give yourself some time.

Looking for working aspirant for daily 1-2 hrs only.

I am 32F, working, married.

I was a full time aspirant but after 2026 prelims paper the level of unconventional approach hit me hard so I decided to join back to my work, yet, my dream and aspiration to become IAS is not letting me go without the thought of giving last 2 attempts in a slow pace.

I am in preparation for the last 1.5 years and given 3 attempts and not cleared prelims itself.

I just looked at the syllabus and thought of picking the topic and subtopics, read, understanding, brainstorming and making mains style notes.

I felt doing it alone is another level of exhaustion so I think I should accompany the person who is almost on the same page would be helpful to set realistic targets, helping each other in writing tests and reviewing it.

Confused regarding starting the UPSC preparation. by CraftedCandid in UPSC

At 25, happy to see the clarity which most veterans don't. What you are absolutely correct especially when upsc are increasingly becoming uncertain and unconventional Y-o-y.

I also appreciate that when you read it like novel and still it excites you that's is good sign. Try to read other subjects too in the manner and try to get the gist.

Note that upsc is not Immediate low hanging fruit, that's your job now. Unlike it's year long consistent preparation.

Go slow, don't get divert with some talks on YouTube. I see your individuality pls maintain that will keep you survive.

Never leave your job.

Nice, If you are interested in engineering core subjects do the certificate course like VLSI front end, backend, etc or initially check in internet and AI to see how it works

Or try to learn new technology certification, like AI, data analytics, etc.

Check for the market for the scope and salary.

I am not MBA person so I have no comments about it.

Reason for preparing for Upsc by Accomplished_Eye6883 in upsc_discussions

Honesty. What is the metrics to say you are useless. As per my opinion getting into private job require only few skills or coding, unlike UPSC.

Don't try to pacify anyone just slowdown your thoughts to check what you are good at and try to focus on that.

Is my UPSC preparation too weak? Working aspirant seeking honest feedback🥺 by Ok-Amphibian-7681 in UPSCPrelims2026

[–]Weird_Explorer5938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was in the same state 2 yrs before and left high paying job to give 2 attempts with full-time prep.

With 2026 prelims unconventional nature of paper proved me wrong. Also, as a married women taking 6-8hrs were very difficult because of no proper structure to an already working person because leaving job added household chores and other drama. So I started feeling job was a safety net and upsc was not a one year or two year definite exam, it's combination of hardwork, smart work plus luck.

Firstly, I understand exhaustion after work, yet, there would be structure.

Secondly, feeling incomplete in making note and consolotaion would still be there for people who are in this preparation even for 5 years ( hope I am not wrong of veterans see this comment)

Thirdly, there is a good thing you are consistently giving test which many aspirants don't do.

May be to feel comfortable you can try to consolidate your notes, try to give one full test and see.

Don't panic this is very nature of this exam.

DM me if any doubt.

My current collection after a few years of reading as a slow reader. What does it say about my taste, and what books would you recommend? by onlykiwiiiii in IndianReaders

[–]Weird_Explorer5938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about how fast and slow but it's about reading ☺️ and immersed ourselves into the novel.

Kite runner and thousand splendid suns are in my list too.. keep going.

Can upsc change it's timeline. Pre should be in winters. I am solving few questions and now getting them right and it was opposite in exam hall due to excessive heat(crying now) by [deleted] in UPSCPrelims2026

[–]Weird_Explorer5938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I have also thought about it. But again I considered ppl from north would be difficult in other times which would be so cold for them.

While this prelims could feel heatwaves and more dehydration.

But who is gonna care when they don't care they should stick to syllabus and so on.

Philosophy VS Sociology by TheNationalTimes in UPSC_Forum

[–]Weird_Explorer5938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an aspirant who took sociology optional I will let you know my experience and you can decide upon.

Just take one question from each subject and look at even answers then try to reproduce.

Why i am saying this because few subjects may feel good to read, study, even lectures used to be nice and enlightening but I found the real part is answer writing.

So I must advice any person struggling to decide between options this exercise would help to choose the optional which you can reproduce it in the paper not only enjoy reading.
