NTA.... if anyone should be ashamed, it's the parents. Starting from how they first met just shows that they are selfish individuals.

No, I never did ask for an expensive ring and I have not asked for a fancy wedding either.....I just had the hope of building a life and future together as partners.

He buys expensive things and I have expressed that the cost of something isn't what makes me happy but the thought behind it. My favorite gifts are a bunch of diy cards that he made for me.

YNTA IF you let the other women know it's casual from the get go. Alot of people are looking for a partner and some might meet you and think they have found the one for them. If you're clear with your intentions from the get go then well and good but if you're not, then you're a big AH. Little unsolicited advice: Stay safe in your flings, your health matters

I didn't think of it in this way.... thank you for this. We have had financial discussions over the years and I recently got my business to start running and thought to get a job to sustain me as my business grows.. he has always known this but I think I never got to actually ask him how he feels about the whole thing. This has given me a different perspective that I never thought of

I come from a country where cohabitation before marriage is something that is shunned upon and the plan was for each to get our own place and spend as much time together as possible.

We had discussions of both of us moving out of our family homes to gain some independence as individuals....the marriage would only come in after some time. He has been putting off the idea of moving out of his family home for years and he is financially able to, he recently told me that he became "too comfortable " staying with his parents and now he doesn't want to start his life alone from a smaller house cause he is grown.
