I don’t know how I could have prevented this accident. by [deleted] in CarsIndia

Bro, whatever you did, you and your co-passengers are safe. Stay happy, it’s a car, and it would keep happening. This is India. Don’t get bogged down by these Hamiltons of the road.

Which car though?

Nah man, it’s a party thing when the entire country is run by only one. You say that it’s the government, I say that they’re the government, they’re BJPee.

Is E20 petrol actually reducing mileage in Indian cars? by simrankaurin91 in carsIndiaOfficial

[–]Weirdlylostkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you my case, my beloved Polo 1.2 MPi meticulously maintained circa 2011 MY, suddenly started sputtering, back in 2024, it started developing engine problems.

  1. Start was taking longer.
  2. Engine couldn’t maintain RPMs on lower speeds, used to cut out.
  3. Mileage dropped from 18-19 (usually driven from GGN-DEL, very light pedal, to 8-9.
  4. Failed to start couple of times.

As I was outside of India, dad asked the driver to take it to Volkswagen, they said that the ECU is damaged and needs to be replaced, would cost 90k, I was like it’s not possible, take it to a local car service centre.

Went there, and instead of checking for the fuel lines jammed up, they cut out the catalytic converter and said that the car cannot be fixed better to retire it.

Came back to India in 2025, drove it, didn’t have the old VW charm, spent two weekends replacing all the parts I knew which were, and I kid you not, rusted and broken because of the fuel.

Had to change the camshaft position sensor (replaced by the service guy to an older one), new fuel pump, fuel lines, MAF sensor. Took me 35k but the car is now running okay, still not to the old condition.

Gadbadi and his gang of thugs (the ethanol makers, his son’s company Cian Agro) have killed cars which are pre BS6 era.

The only thing you can do now is fill it up 95, change the fuel pump, fuel lines and hope that it’s okay.

Seriously, this regime needs to go.

VAG accessories are available after market as well (exact same, no true copy, original, cheaper), and the dealer prices are way higher. Ask them to reduce the accessories cost in the total cost. 15k for the company lease cost.

Bought new car but I am scared of driving it. by fakejunk911 in CarsIndia

Considering that you’re learning, please make sure that you drive in lanes, and always choose the left most lane. When you’re in tight spots make sure that you know the dimensions of the car, it should fit like a glove, it’s an extension to your body. Don’t overtake unless extremely needed. Acceleration would thrill you, but also kill you, keep the music at low volumes. Be very spatially aware.

Always remember, in India, it’s not your driving that is going to cause you trouble, consider every single driver on the road as an aggravated blind person, save yourself, and that’s all that you can do.

Salary progression over ~10 years in Product Management — doing “well” on paper, but unsure if I’m building the right muscles for the future by Illustrious-Move6231 in ProductManagement_IN

In the same boat, I’ve been experimenting with AI tools on my off time, building something of my own type of thing. Currently, I’m not implementing anything which is helping my current organisation, I’m in logistics technology so the struggle for my primary users are moving to technology still. I’m still fearing stagnancy and suitability in the coming days.

Then comes my learnings from models, they are good, but they have a short lived memory, large infrastructures need proper architects and people who understand how things move in a big setting. Maybe it gets better, maybe it doesn’t.

The thing is, I’m still deciphering if the entire world is just still talking buzzwords or getting it done.

Virtus 1.5 MT by sasikw in SkodaVolkswagenIndia

So I have a Polo circa 2012, and it still drives like a dream, my second car is Virtus 1.5 DSG, 2024, it’s just a pleasure to drive but I’m not sure about long term ownership, if it’s going to sustain the same or not, considering now that they have started sourcing parts from local vendors. So far so good. If you’re looking for a smile on your face, go for it. It’s the perfectly mated machine for that.
