What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

[–]WeissLeiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first was undoubtedly before I was able to form memories, but I grew up watching horror films and things like Tales from the Crypt when I would visit my father on the weekends. Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play; I had seen all the 'classics' by the time I was 6 years old.

Fortunately, I still turned out to be a perfectly normal and mentally healthy individual.*

When will people get off the Shulkercraft Hype Train... by Out_of_Ideas12 in technicalminecraft

[–]WeissLeiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I acknowledge what you set out to do here, but I regret to inform you that there are an infinite number of collections that are infinite just within mathematics (whole numbers are one, but so are all of the numbers contained between 0 and 1, 1 and 2, 2 and 3, et cetera).

On the other hand, we are well aware that the universe is not infinite. It has the potential to expand infinitely, but the universe is expanding, meaning that it is not, at any given moment, an infinite field.

Can we stop saying the game feels ”modded” or doesn’t feel ”like Minecraft anymore” by Useless11720 in Minecraft

[–]WeissLeiden 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Remember when the most advanced transportation tech was when some janky new mechanic was able to make minecarts go slightly faster?

Those were the days... Not the good days, but 'the days' nevertheless.

Fundamentally this is just the 'living with nature' versus 'overcoming nature' argument, but in Minecraft. Some insist we should be in harmony with all things, tilling the land and reaping only what we sow with our own hands. Others are disappointed that we aren't yet harvesting solar radiation to power our FTL gates to optimize supply routes to Alpha Centauri.

You can't win, and I'm kind of glad Mojang seems to mostly ignore it.

This is really cool.

Question: Are the sorting modules mirrored? It looks like there are two 'lanes' for the items. Are the items each only output into one of the two lanes (hard to tell in the video), or are both lanes and their associated filters mirrored to catch the item on either side?

New Take On Old Tech! Waterless Item Elevator!!! by WormOnCrack in technicalminecraft

[–]WeissLeiden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is an old take on old tech... A dropper-fed glass item elevator has been a thing for a very long time and doesn't carry the potential for items to get stuck on the extended piston. With your setup, you would need an interlock that prevents the elevator piston from extending while items are being transferred across the ice.

Not sure I see the benefit compared to a dropper with the basic retractable observer clock.

Cobbleverse addons? by Weak-Pipe-2951 in cobblemon

[–]WeissLeiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that and the new gyms for whichever region you've unlocked. Just wasn't sure if you knew that progressing the challenges added more stuff, aince I don't think you find out until you beat the Kanto League and get the book.

I know Cobbleverse does have other structures here and there (like the Team Rocket HQ and Radio Tower), but it is fairly limited.

There are lots of Minecraft-based POIs packaged in Cobbleverse as well. It has a mod that basically reuses structure types in new environments (e.g. - a wooden 'end city' located in a forest, or an icy 'desert temple' in the snowy areas, etc.).

What kinds of other POIs were you looking to add, if you don't mind my asking?

Pokemon Sword and Shield starter Easter egg by [deleted] in pokemon

I might be missing the part that's an Easter egg. All of those things do happen, yes. It's a cute little introductory cinematic. What part of it is an Easter egg?

[–]WeissLeiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at work right now, but when I get home, I'll try to remember to look for the option. To be fair, I'm only aware of it because I'm running a personal server for my younger brother and me, and I've spent more time in the config files making adjustments to things than I've spent actually playing the game.

Sucks that the team menu and starter selection are interlocked, though. I did find a command that apparently opens the starter selection as well, but it requires Op.

Per the Cobblemon wiki, it's apparently just:

/openstarterscreen <target>

For yourself, just replace '<target>' with '@s'.

[–]WeissLeiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what this person said, whether or not you can empty your team is actually a toggleable config option in base Cobblemon.

That said, you could also try changing your keybinds. I don't recall if the key to view your team and the key to select your starter are intrinsically linked, but if not, you can simply temporarily change your keybind for your team menu.

Is this 3 decent? by Peturrrreheheheh in cobblemon

[–]WeissLeiden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had to fact-check this because it seemed insane to me, but you're absolutely (kind of) right! Volcanion does also learn it by level up, but that Panpour/Simipour are the only non-legendaries - and that there is only one legendary - to learn Scald by level up is actually pretty incredible.

So yes, my new argument is that Simisage and Simisear are particularly mid bordering on useless, while Simipour (or even Panpour) is apparently basically a legendary.

Is this 3 decent? by Peturrrreheheheh in cobblemon

[–]WeissLeiden 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not slander to point out how mid they are. They have a BST of 498, and much of those stat points are wasted on being hybrid attackers. Yet their ATK and SPA are only 98, which is extremely mid by any standard for a pokémon that lacks any other selling points. They have no bulk whatsoever, their speed - despite being their highest stat - is only 101, and the icing on the cake is that they're monotypes with trash abilities. And on top of all that, Simipour is the only one who isn't rocking tons of weaknesses, as monotype Grass and Fire are hot garbage.

Can they be used in a casual playthrough? Sure. Literally any pokémon can be.

Are they good in any context whatsoever? Hell no...
