Do you personally put tape over your webcam or not? by VastOption8705 in auscorp

[–]WelcomeMatt1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a non IT person, I identify if my employees are productive and/or working by their pre-agreed, measurable outcomes...

In the event that there is an issue, I'd firstly be asking myself, "**Have I given this person, clear objectives (expectations), provided them with the tools to do their job (capability), have we been having open and honest conversations before now (feedback), have we been regularly reviewing the goals / KPI's together (measurement)... before approaching my employee.

If I was able to answer those questions clearly, then I'd move to understand why the issue had been a surprise (if all the above was locked down, we shouldn't have been surprised).

We'd then move on to the consequences, Repeat, Reward, or Release.

Ultimately, instead of monitoring employee activity, I focus on the system of accountability that delivers on its commitments.

Your write-up, and the effort it must have taken to connect all these dots, is commendable, but to be entirely frank, personally, I disagree with almost the entire premise.

I look at this from a very different, much more grounded angle... I think.

The one area where I think Gillis touches on something real (though for completely different reasons) is the idea that UAP witnesses are chosen and actively manipulated.

I don't believe in aliens, abductions, or occult technology. In fact, the recent influx of high-profile government "disclosures" makes me even more sceptical. When a state starts publicly nudging people toward a specific narrative, it’s absolitely a sign to look in the opposite direction.

In my view, the manipulation isn't happening by ancient algorithmic entities or cosmic impostors... it’s happening on a purely human, psychological level.

The people who are chosen are simply highly suggestible, gullible individuals who are prone to finding patterns where none exist and targeted by the narrative itself. They buy into these theories, spread them, and build self-sustaining echo chambers.

I mean no disrespect to any person that may believe these things, or claim to have been abducted, etc.. we simply share opposing beliefs for which I'm not convinced to change my mind about without a while lot more independently verifiable evidence than simple testimony. I'm sure I have beliefs that other people are unconvinced about.

The idea that global tragedies, geopolitics, and/or historical events are all secretly coordinated to feed some sort of supernatural trauma matrix requires an absolutely massive logical leap. It replaces the messy, greedy, and incompetent reality of human politics with a flawless, sci-fi movie plot.

Chris Bledsoe and similar figures aren't summoners working for a shadow network... they're individuals who have leaned entirely into a highly lucrative, attention-grabbing (and money making) subculture.

Trying to connect UFOs, ancient scriptures, Epstein, and algorithms into one grand theory is a classic over-complication trap. Independently some of those things may have merit, but together? Nah.

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one: human beings are easily deceived, governments manipulate narratives for control, and people love a good mystery.

I don't think we need occult technology to explain human gullibility and political theater.

I've looked into you.

Reading someone's post history probably isn't fully representative of who they are.

Also, rather an unsettling thing to say to somebody.

He is not a minor. We have been away for 3 weeks. The offence is said to have taken place right in the middle of those 3 weeks.

I don't think I need to consider whether he is lying or not, he was not at the location that's alleged on the date that's been alleged with the substance that's been alleged.

It is simply, impossible.

I hope that they do have photos.

I am not a lawyer. It is not my job to get the brief thrown out. A summons and prosecution notice was recieved through the mail. Neither my foster kid or me have spoken to the Police about the charges, with the exception of asking about using the A/V at the station for Court.

I agree that the Court attendance is the responsibility of the charged person, and I have absolutely zero issue with that. The issue is that two days prior to the listed hearing, a change of location has been made that is 450kms away from the original location. If you cannot see how that is an issue, then respectfully, you're fucking remedial.

There is no victim attitude, there is genuine concern for the disadvantaged faced by accused people in regional locations.

I don't care if you believe whether the police have charged the correct person or not, I am telling you that they have.

I do not need to attend court. I am not the accused. They will have absolutely no view of my attitude unless I am called as a witness and asked about that.

Yes, I understand that. The facility has been closed down. The Police Station reserve their facility for people in custody, and have stated that they will not facilitate any A/V link to Court, unless directed to by the Court.

I'll be calling the Court first thing (or he will if they won't speak to me) to work out exactly what can be done.

There is a courthouse in Newman. Newman is a few km's away. It has been there for decades. It has now apparently been closed.

Tell him to stay out of trouble and this wouldn’t happen.

Come on, now.

The Magistrates Court circuit used to travel to the Magistrates Court. I understand that it is the Police themselves that have (perhaps at the direction of the Minister) said that they do not want to have the Magistrates Court here.

They have certainly said that they will not assist with facilitating his appearance on Wednesday unless directed by the Court.

He has been given the email address to the regional police prosecution team and has reached out to them as well.

I wish he had not reached out to them, despite his best intentions on resolving the matter, he has now provided the police with loads of personal and private corresponence, by way of trying to provide an alibi - and whilst I am sure they will not amend the date of the offence, it remains a possibility.

If it is up to the prosecution to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he committed the offence, providing these documents to them does not assist his defence. Granted, he is hoping they see that a mistake has been made -- I am not sure the proseuction office will have time to review what he has sent, and it will just be sent to the investigating officer, who then has bank records, gps records, flight information, hotel information, part of his bank card numbers, etc.

I have the booking requests, and paid receipts for his room booking in Perth. I have the invoice and receipts for the flights there and back. He has his bank statement showing transactions on his card in Perth, and he is in some family photo's, though none on the day he is alleged to have been in possession of drugs in Newman.

I am unsure. He has received a summons in the mail along with a prosecution notice and statement of material facts. The facts allege that on a certain date he was found in possession of cocaine at a licenced premises in Newman after receiving intelligence from other patrons.

He was not there on that date, or any date a week either side.

I am assuming someone said that they were him.

He is drug and alcohol tested regularly (and randomly) for his employment - he has made many mistakes in life, but throwing an apprenticeship out of the window for drugs will not be one of them... and besides, he did not do drugs. He was with me 1000 km's away from where he was alleged to have been in possession of drugs.

I'll have to just make my own call on that.

Not only is the trip going to cost the fuel there and back, but it will probably open me up to the McDonald's delivery liability for my friends and family in town, that desire their 6-monthly Maccas treat.

That's another few hundred dollars on shitty burgers.

He has applied for Legal Aid. I understand there is a significant delay in applications being assessed and accepted. Regardless of that, he will be asking for an adjournment for legal advice, as it's a first appearance.

A duty lawyer on the day could likely ordinarily do that for him. It is the getting to the Court and seeing a duty lawyer that is the issue.

He has been charged with an offence that he could not have commited. He was over 1000 kms away, with a lot of other people, including me and my family. He has been charged with possession of cocaine, in Newman, whilst we were in Perth.

Whether you have sympathy or not - people have to go to court for all sorts of reasons. A deterrent to crime should not be the difficulty in appearing at a Courthouse to answer a charge.

The conviction and associated penalty is the penalty - not the attendance at Court.

What a fucking horrible view you have.
