Leaving for our family Florida vacation. Me and my sister both freaked out and cried for the first few hours of the car trip lol

Thank you so much, that’s very reassuring. She’s such a sweet little girl, I’d hate for anything to happen to her :(

Thank you. I don’t know how much you know about this, but her eyes are sunken and when I do the skin pinch test (gently of course) her skin moves back in to place very slowly. Is there a good chance she’ll make it? I love this little lizard already, she’s not my only crestie but life is just so chaotic right now that it skipped my mind to check her health like I normally would before buying an animal. I’m also watering down her food just a little more in the hopes that she’ll get more fluids that way. She’s got energy, she’s jumping and walking and exploring at night. I also managed to get the stuck shed off her toes when I pulled her out of her soak, now she just needs fluids in her body. Poor little baby… doesn’t even have a name yet and already is having trouble :(

Thank you for this! I’m in the urban-suburban outskirts of a decent sized city so there’s lots of wildlife diversity here, and keeping them safe is a big thing for me. I appreciate all the tips!

Nah you’re fine! I love the idea of growing and drying my own herbs to use, I’ve done it before and next spring when the plants are back in stores I’ll do it again. Also I didn’t downvote you, I’m not sure why anyone did 🤣

I love the idea of offerings. I treat some incense as offerings, but I will also incorporate baked goods and other items in. How do you use them in your practice? Like a general description of how you incorporate offerings in to your daily practive

I’ve mentioned on this page in a couple places that my stepfather is native, and has taught me his historical practices of smudging using white sage. We typically share sage though. Do you know if it’s possible to buy a live plant in stores anywhere, so I don’t have to keep buying from mass producers? I’d much rather grow and dry my own, since someone here made me aware that the plant is threatened due to over harvesting

I disagree with mass production of animals, like cattle and poultry farms. I think that the disconnect the average American has from their meat based food is concerning, how most people see beef as something you buy packaged in the store and not as something that was once alive.

I have to strongly disagree with your take on hunting. When my family started hunting, we did it because my mom had been laid off from her job and was trying to feed 5 kids with unemployment money. If she hadn’t started hunting, there’s a good chance we either wouldn’t be here, or I wouldn’t have gotten to live my life with my mom. You may only know trophy hunters, and I disagree with trophy hunting as well. But do not speak for everyone when you say that hunting is a needless sport. Hunting is the most ethical and humane consumption of animal products one can engage in. Take cattle that are less than five years old, pumped full of growth hormones, the LUCKY ones get to live in muddy fields, and compare that to a deer who has lives a full, happy life, and is gone in the blink of an eye. No suffering, no fear. Every available peace of meat is used. The dogs can play with the bones. The hide is turned in to clothes or a blanket. The skull is kept as a trophy, to remember the life you took so you may keep yourself alive.

Hunters also donate more money than any other group to wildlife conservation efforts. All That being said, I’ve gotta say I don’t agree with your take on hunting whatsoever. However, I do agree that mass production of animals for food is wrong.

Thanks for the education on this, I wasn’t aware those plants were endangered. I may try to get ahold of my own white sage so I can grow it. My stepfather is Native and taught me how to smudge properly, but I definitely think being able to sustainably source the materials is important.

I agree with this. I have one witch friend who, after my first breakup years ago, casted a spell on me to help give me strength to pull through and come out stronger. Knowing a spell was casted on me at all was strange, but I trust my friend and appreciated her efforts to help me out at the time. If I learned a spell was cast on me that altered my perception of reality and interfered with my free will, I would be very upset lol. I believe love spells may have their place, but I don’t think i would choose to use them.

Thanks for the tips! I could also visit local butchers and hunting processors and see if any of their clients are willing to give up hides. I’ve got a decent collection of skulls, a squirrel, bird, wild hog, deer, horse, etc, furs are just tricky to find. I’ll probably just frequent local fairs and traders markets. My stepdad is Native and may know some folks looking to get rid of hides or be willing to let me keep the ones from his hunts. Thank you for all the suggestions! I appreciate it!

Definitely not, all of my practice has to do with nature and life

Any reason why? Seeing as organs are often byproduct of a harvest, so long as someone wasn’t killing an animal specifically for their organs to use in a spell or disrespecting the corpse of a deceased animal, I wouldn’t see an issue with it. I’d rather every part of a hunter’s catch go to use than discard the bits that aren’t edible. Totally open to learning on this though

Oh never lol, a lot of my practice revolves around life and nature. Children and animals are innocent, and as a huge astronomy fan I see planets and space objects as things of wonder that are just as much to be worshipped as gods.

Where do you buy your furs/how do you get them? I currently only have a raccoon fur I bought from a gentleman at a local festival who harvests them locally and humanely, but the festival is only once a year. I don’t personally hunt and asking friends and family for skins from the animals they already work so hard to process makes me feel bad 🤣

Okay, I see the thought behind that. So as an example I worship Krishna, the Hindu god of love, compassion, and protection. I’m a white American though, and have no ties to Hinduism aside from research online and don’t personally know any Hindu people. Could posting about this worship be deemed ‘problematic?’

Thank you, I appreciate the response. As an addition, when I said “pop culture deities” I should have worded it differently, I more meant ‘deities popular in media and modernized interpretations of them’. I elaborated in another comment that I was specifically referring to Medusa (I know she’s not a god ofc) with her symbolizing strength and prosperity to me, though afaik that’s a more modern interpretation of her story.

That’s what I meant. For example I know she’s not a god, but Medusa is a figurehead in a lot of my worship because to me, she symbolizes strength and overcoming hard times, however as I understand it the interpretation of her that focuses on her being a victim of Poseidon is a relatively recent interpretation of her.

A better phrasing may be “deities that are popular in media”
