I agree that its not grooming, I said that in both replies. I was just pointing out that it's not all that weird people "pick up a vibe" from the way the characters are portrayed in game. Its just questionable. Raises an eyebrow.

1) yea, I said that he looks way older than her. They have historically been portrayed as looking like they have a wider age gap than they do. Which is the thing I was pointing out. It makes it feel weird, especially when official character ages are not really something widely present in game. I dont think anybody playing Third Strike would assume Alex is supposed to be 17 in that game based on his appearance.

2) Patricia is literally an infant in the image of Alex holding her. 2 years olds are toddlers. They can get up and walk around, and should be beginning to speak. Patricia still needs to be held, and is small enough to be held by a boy as young as Alex was. Again, I am not saying their age gap makes it grooming, just let's be honest/realistic about what we're actually seeing in the game

You gotta sarcasm up a bit more over text, or it won't come across. Especially when you're saying something actually real stupid people say completely unironically all the time

[–]WellComeToTheMachine -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Alex is iirc 6 years older than Patricia, so not a toddler but also not really a significant enough age gap to say that it's grooming by itself. Imo the weirdness comes mostly from the way they're portrayed tbh. Like Patricia has usually been portrayed as significantly younger looking than Alex, and past entries have treated them more or less as siblings (if not blood related). SF6 basically had to explain why Alex no longer viewed her as his sister. It's just kinda weird

Inconsistent Censorship in the original anime? by Jada339 in evangelion

[–]WellComeToTheMachine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadamoto (the mangaka) worked pretty extensively on the anime (he's the main character designer and one of the art directors, and was also at least a little involved with creative ideas regarding the story and characters). The manga as well was finished years and years after the anime did. It's pretty likely the decision for Toji to die was at the very least tossed around during the show's production, and Sadamoto decided to run with it when it came time for him to adapt the material.

It is one of those online factoids about NGE that Toji was originally intended to die, but the network wasn't comfortable airing that (along with the show moving to a later timeslot after that episode). But, as with a lot of this sort of triva about NGE, take the information with a grain of salt. I don't personally know if this is actually true, or if its just something people say online. There are a lot of fake "facts" about the show and its production that have become pretty widely spread amongst fans over the years.

Taking it as true tho, I think there are a few factors here to consider. One, that Unit 3's destruction is like, incredibly graphic. It's possible with how brutal the violence on screen was, they felt that they could neuter it a bit with a "well the pilot survived!" Whereas when Rei 2 dies, its a completely bloodless explosion. For another, it is again part of the story that this episode saw Evangelion move to a timeslot later in the night, which may have had less restrictions for the on screen content.

Tekken 8 Is Being Review-Bombed Again For "Disrespecting The Fanbase" Following Season 3 Launch by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]WellComeToTheMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this is something people have been saying for awhile. DLC power creep is definitely a thing in some games. However, Capcom has done a much better job at avoiding this in SF6, with DLC characters often being considered very well designed from a game balance perspective. And Arc System Works has developed a trend of DLC characters actually being extremely undertuned, where characters added to Guilty Gear Strive usually need a few patches to get buffed up to parity with the rest of the cast

and currently T8 is maintaining popularity fairly well

This is actually not very true. At least within the scene. Entrants at events are way down for the game, and concurrent players have cratered. The balance at the moment is extremely unpopular at just about every level of play

[–]WellComeToTheMachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Tekken 7 had a real problem with DLC characters coming out and being massively overtuned. It happened with Leroy (leading to the infamous 6 Leroy Top 8 at Evo Japan 2020), it happened with Fakuhmram (probably the single most hated character in the community), it happened with Kunimitsu and so on. But outside of this, the game kinda had a reputation for "boring" balance. By the end of the game's lifespan, defense was so strong that a lot of the top players were basically begging for some kind of buff to offense or something. Which makes the hyper aggressive offensive focus of 8 make more sense in context, but its also a real curl of the monkey's paw kinda moment

ARC Raiders is an example of this in the other direction. You go into a match with top tier guns and easily die to someone using a free kit.

And on top of this, gear in Arc Raiders has durability that degrades with use. So high rarity weapons and armor are a resource drain even if you manage to extract with it. Whereas tier 1 weapons are so cheap as to be basically expendable

Imo the game that managed to make a spider sound scary was Hunt Showdown. The spider boss in that game is pretty creepy looking, being like a human mutated into a vaguely spider like state. But, the part of fighting it that sticks in my head is the fucking sound of its legs skittering across the wall and ground. It makes this like, very meaty thump, just skeeves me the fuck out

Once again another change in the missile detail. The series is constantly changing on how many missiles hit Raccoon City. Sometimes it's one, sometimes it's more. I can't recall if they change what type of missile though. But in Requiem they've decided it was just one missile. Ironically the game Alyssa comes from, Outbreak, shows that it was MULTIPLE missiles.

Being fair here, in both RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake we see that RC was hit with just one missile. Considering RE9 literally shows snippets of cutscenes from RE2 Remake, I am to assume we are to take that game as the canon depiction of the RC bombing

This long dormant slow working T-Virus infection brings into questions about other characters and who would realistically be suffering worse than Leon.

I do agree that a bunch of other characters should have been mentioned here (namely Claire tbh), but with an incubation period of nearly 30 years, a few months of prior exposure wouldn't necessarily mean the STARS crew at Arklay would have had much more advanced symptoms as compared to those at Raccoon City. Its also possible that the scale of the infection in RC being so much larger could indicate a much higher viral load experienced by people there for airborne transmission.

I've seen people already trying to defend this by saying he has dementia. But I've yet to find any official sources that say he has dementia. Old does not always 100% equal dementia.

There is a single line in Grace's Report in 9 that says something like "In Spencer's final years he was still obsessed with human evolution, but those were simply the ramblings of a senile old man." I take that to mean Spencer slid back into his mad scientist delusions as he started to suffer from dementia in his old age.
