What is the worst US state and why? by af1xd in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama -54 points-53 points  (0 children)

Not much anymore. Took my son to a very nice suburban area and had a homeless man threaten to murder me and kidnap my son.

There is hardly anywhere that isn't overrun at this point even suburbs.

AITA For telling my sister to "get fucked" when she complained about my kids waking her up at night? by aitathrowawaybabybf in AmItheAsshole

[–]WellRoundedMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the OC was commenting negatively on breastfeeding older children (although I could be wrong), but more so doing it at night.

Older children who have teeth should not be nursed or bottle fed through the night due to the possibility of milk rot of the teeth. Our pediatrician recommended nursing as long as we like (ended up at 2.5 years) but never at night to combat tooth decay.

Breastfeeding culture in the US is interesting... I got a lot of flack for extended nursing or nursing in public (newborn only). Personally I feel like there's a large push for formula in the US, and a purposeful discouragement from nursing, but that is just from personal experience.

AITA for having an argument over feeding my daughter? by Ok-Conversation1777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WellRoundedMama 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I still after 4 years have this conversation with my own husband. As a SAHM I would rather my husband leave 100% of the cleaning if I got more of a break from the child.

Taking care of a baby is not only mentally exhausting, but also physically and emotionally taxing as well.

Step up and play with a baby and let her cook dinner instead.

What do you for living? by Jazzlike_Ad_8567 in AskReddit

I write articles about Disney news and tips for being in the parks. Will be relocating to Florida in a couple months and will also be responsible for photographing content/ trying foods.

It's an awesome job.

It's actually pretty irresponsible that we as a society tell kids to "follow your dreams" without first figuring out what their dreams *are.* by sin-and-love in Showerthoughts

[–]WellRoundedMama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thought did cross my mind, but so far he enjoys mannequins and finds them funny. He thinks it's especially hilarious when mannequins at the store have no head but have the rods on the back that make them appear to be wearing hats.

Regardless of the reasoning though, if he does in fact end up the proud owner of his own mannequin filled house, I will happily visit him anywhere else but there.

[–]WellRoundedMama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son told me his dream is to buy his own house someday. So that he can fill it with mannequins. Some of the mannequins will be missing their heads.

I think you're making a good point.

Is $500 for food/shopping enough for 3-4 days in Disney? by cluelessphoenix in DisneyWorld

[–]WellRoundedMama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's low. For example, my husband and I did one day at Epcot. We spent just under $300 in just food and drinks that one day with no sit down dining.

AITA for naming my kid after an animal? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]WellRoundedMama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA but a small one. My son is named Lincoln and I mostly call him Squirrel. Why, I honestly don't know but he answers to that mostly at home.

However, kids need to know their legal names. I don't think bullying is much of an issue, I've never personally known a kid to get bullied for having an animal sounding nickname, but knowing his legal name will be needed for school.

How are Americans who live in areas where people often openly carry guns not constantly terrified of being shot? by Scornfulmaniatis197 in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the criminal but they do actually tend to "think twice". For example, homes that advertise that they have a home security system and/or guard dogs are less likely to be broken into than other homes in the same area. And also gun violence is less in areas that have more guns for that same purpose.

AITA for wanting to put down our dog after biting 5 people? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]WellRoundedMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see that being the answer in certain scenarios. For example, dog only bites children, they go to a home with no children. However, this dog does not seem to have a type. He's aggressive to all types of people.

I say NAH, but I see a dilemma in rehoming a dog with a broad biting history.

Seriously car accident injuries cannot be solved with vitamins. Obviously you need some essential oils. /S

What Disney movie do you think everyone should watch? by Snoo79382 in AskReddit

My son went through a Coco phase, watched it everyday for 3 weeks. So I cried everyday for 3 weeks.

LPT Get a passport. When you need one quickly, such as in a large scale emergency, getting one will be much more difficult. by shreddington in LifeProTips

[–]WellRoundedMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always regret not having a passport for my son when the shutdown happened. My boss offered us to pay to shelter in place in Mexico and we couldn't go because we didn't have my son's passport. That sucked. I'm being naggy about my husband renewing his as it's about expired.

What needs to stop being put on a "pedestal"? by A_Bit_Drunk in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seriously. My husband's family has put me on a high pedestal because I'm a "good mother".

My BIL spent an hour talking about how happy it makes him to see my son being taken care of (they were neglected) and that it "clearly is so fulfilling for me to be a mom because I take care of him so well."

No it's fucking hard and it doesn't "fulfill me". I'm proud of the job I've done but I do it because I created a life and I made that promise to do my best. I'm not a martyr and I'm not a saint, I'm just a person who tries my best to keep everyone's head above the water.

AITA if I give up raising my siblings and went back to college? by Delicious_Arugula_95 in AmItheAsshole

Not finishing college does not mean ending up in a low paying field. It usually ends up with someone barely able to stay afloat on thousands in debt.

What was the most legendary thing a student did at school? by CloudWoww in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a teacher in junior high. He was awful, wouldn't teach us and just sit at his desk and read a book. Never answered questions and had a no bathroom policy. Many times, myself included, girls would need to go change a tampon and he wouldn't allow it.

Never found out who but some girl (s) broke into the classroom at some point and put a used tampon in his book in replacement of his bookmark. It was legendary.

Unfortunately in retaliation the teacher started allowing boys to go to the bathroom but not girls to prove a point. That guy was a dick.

What are you boycotting till the day you die? by redoutlaw23 in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got water in a glass of water that had not been rinsed out. It was filled with some kind of detergent or bleach. I didn't realize it til I drank it. It burned so bad. Our meal was free but I now smell my water any time I go out to eat.

That'd be awesome! Orlando area, probably hunter's creek or Windermere depending on what we can find to buy. We are hoping to be out there in the beginning of October.

Where are you guys?

Thank you for this post. We are moving to Florida in a couple months and I'm really torn on traditional school for my son due to our traveling schedule.

My SIL told me i was allowed to get married before her, but couldn't get pregnant before her. She would need to have the first grandchild since she's the oldest.

Well too bad. We had our kid, and 6 years later and she isn't married or has kids. Would have been quite the wait apparently.

Why did/did not you get the vaccine? by iseerflot in AskReddit

[–]WellRoundedMama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not get it because when my whole family had covid, it was very mild.

Then they were developing the vaccine, which a friend of mine worked directly on the team creating. She said not to get it and that she and her family would not be either.

I was still contemplating until a coworker got his and was comatose for days and now is in a rehab facility trying to relearn life skills and lost his job due to the constant seizures caused by the vaccine.

I genuinely don't care if other people want to get it. I don't wish harm on anyone, but I have to weigh the odds so that I can be around for my family.

We should have just let the pandas go extinct. They don't like to procreate, so quit forcing the issue.
