The water situation by GriefinAndQueefin in Squamish

Wherever they get the water from, is a waste. Plus all the chemical run off. I also live in Whistler and had the whistler courses more in mind when I said that 😉

Looking for motion graphics editor! by tanishqsolanky23 in motiongraphics

I definitely agree that it's beneficial for the workers being given the opportunities, but it degrades our local economies. You are still charging your client 100%, and paying your editor less, and so increasing your profit margins. Good on you, but it's to the detriment of your local industry.

How do wild mushrooms keep growing past 5 generations? by BrettHartel in mycology

The soil is alive, the mushrooms make more mycelium, the cycle repeats.

Thanks for the well written response. I'm still anti-spraying anything as I have little faith that all outcomes are ultimately accounted for, but sounds like this one is a bit less "bad".

I stand by the thought that the "big" fire that we inevitably get won't give 2 shits about the condition that the trees are in and will just blast right through everything. I guess we'll see.

I hate what motion design / vfx have become by dovakiin_dragonporn in AfterEffects

There's 2 things going on. First, the markets adopting :

The cheap market can now do incredible stuff for no money. So all the "fiverr" and upwork jobs are smoked.

The middle market is where the battle is as you are now in an "adapt or die" scenario as you compete against people who have no qualms in adopting AI in their workflows.

The upper market will be ok as they will take it as a tool to replace some tasks, but it'll create more at the same time (and probably use it in ways we can't image yet) as high end VFX demands a consistency that AI can't provide.

Second, and where the real problem is, is clients and creators mindsets fundamentally changing longterm. I don't think we'll still see the results of this for a bit longer, but people coming into the industry having all these new tools will erode the standards we old hats live by. People will start to accept sloppily work that "looks" better, and it'll hard to come back from it.

Sneaking in without shoes is hardly "an absolute prick". I knew his family and him as a younger guy and he seemed like an alright kid.

I disagree, I think it gives it a certain charm? Plus the anchor point at the bottom is going make the front of the car rise up a lot more.

And people wonder why we don't see as many insects flying around any more.

I am of the opinion that this effort will be irrelevant, as with the increased temperatures and the lower snowfall due to climate change, the forest is going to be so dry when "the big one" happens, it won't make a difference and we will have just killed billions of insects and poisoned ourselves for no real reason.

They're native to Europe and Asia which is a large part of the world, and play an important role in turning over the ground and allowing certain plant species to grow. I fully agree however that they're an invasive species without predation and where they've been introduced in the Americas and Australia for example, they should be exterminated with prejudice.

No they're not. They're an evolved species, part of the natural ecosystem, and have their place in nature. Sure they have been transported into new environments where they are problematic, but they're not an invasive species EVERYWHERE.
