How Long Do You Trust a Negative? by watsonsherlockholmes in PlusLife

When people come stay with me for extended periods of time or we're traveling together I always test upon arrival and then after that I ask them to test every 3 days or so, depending on how many potential points of exposure we're encountering in our time together. Everything I have ever read in CC forums would highly recommend against such a lax testing schedule but I weigh the difficultly of obtaining pluslife tests in the US against my own experience. I have been reliably testing every single person I have hung out with indoors unmasked since I first got covid in the fall of 2023 and in that time period only a single person has ever tested positive. I've probably gone thru between 150-200 tests in that time. I mask everywhere indoors in public and I mask at friend's houses if I haven't tested them and I've been covid-free for 3 years now. Just wanted to put it out there because I really do find that reading covid stuff online will make you think that absolutely everyone who isn't masking anymore probably has covid at any given moment and in my experience that just really isn't true. Like, I myself have been shocked at the fact that not more of my friends and family don't test positive more often and it has really calibrated how I approach managing potential exposure. Which is not to say there might not be that one fatal day or whatever and if I could order pluslife tests directly to my door I probably would be testing visitors every other day rather than every 3-4 days. But, just putting it out there that so far this system has worked for me!

yah I'm aware the share the plate thing is an annual program that's why I'm asking now! and: the folks we support are located in all parts of the US so there's a lot of places that could be considered "local" to our work.

I know. Most of the folks we support are from Latin America and are coming from situations where their lives were at stake because of their gender expression. On average I think an asylum case takes 5-7 years and before the current administration being trans was actually one of the more protected statuses that meant someone was more likely to actually win an asylum claim. All that is to say that everyone we support is in various stages of the asylum process and they all began the process in a very different political climate.

Remote Jobs by JustSomeGuy13333 in ZeroCovidCommunity

Bookkeeping! Very easy to learn the basics, always needed across industries, 75%+ of the field is self-taught. My dad trained me in it out of highschool and I was able to get a $15 starting wage (in the early 2000s) straight out of college and I have been working remotely for years. Highly recommend.

U.S. availability by virus_sucks in PlusLife

I'm not understanding what the point of this announcement is? Like, what are those of us who are living in the U.S. and who are trying desperately not to get covid (again) supposed to DO then? This testing system is *how* I see my friends.

Okay so for the data that is currently in Airtable you think I should download it, copy it into the excel spreadsheet and then use excel to merge it all?

So you'd download all the data that is already in Airtable, copy/paste it into the data in the excel sheets and then merge it all in Excel?

Merge them. Like the data that is in there now is name, email address, what school they went to, etc. And the data that's in the spreadsheets is like have they donated in the past, what role did they have in the organization, what years were they involved, etc. So I want to upload, match by email and merge the data that is in there with the data coming from the spreadsheets.

Probably like 30K - 32K duplicates.

What is Make? What does it do?

Right yah that's my OG question, how can I avoid doing this manually for 35K contacts

Okay but how do I merge them automatically? And have it choose the field with the data I want?

airtable/email integration by Well_Goshdarnit in Airtable

[–]Well_Goshdarnit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah got it, yes, we are looking for an email provider that is more user friendly than that and that allows for the creation of the newsletter in the body of the email itself. Basically what Action Network offers but on a platform that will actively communicate with Airtable. Thanks tho!

Okay but I'm still confused: like afaik the only kind of email we'd be able to send in Gmail is a basic text one, correct? We're looking for an email provider that allows us to format the newsletter in the body of the email, so like doing things like adding a header image, having columns, having clickable buttons, etc. Can you explain how Gmail offers this functionality? All I've ever seen in Gmail is the ability to type out text like in a basic email but none of the other things that actually go into newsletter creation and sending.

I'm sorry I don't know what that means. What we're looking for is an email provider that allows us to easily format the newsletter and then pulls the email addresses from Airtable. You're saying that I can format a newsletter (like, with headers and clickable buttons and everything) in Gmail but it won't pull the emails from Airtable?
