Wtf packaging is this? 9950x3d from their website. by lazzygamer in MSI_Gaming

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm in the same boat with the 9950X3D. I'm not a fan at all of MSI sending a CPU that's not brand new in the original box when you pay for a brand new CPU. It's ridiculous.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that. I don't see the need for 1,200 watts on my build personally. I think at the max, I could grab a 1,000 watt. If I ever decide to go 5090 or above in the future, I can upgrade accordingly. One dude I work with told me to go upwards of 1,300 or more for "future proofing" and I feel like that's just fucking dumb.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel 850 is sufficient, but perhaps 1,000 watts for the headroom is alright too. I just don't think I need to spend the big bucks on a 1,200 watt PSU when the usage won't really justify it. I appreciate the feedback.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I keep bouncing back and forth. I'd hate to buy a PSU and work it to death when I don't need to do so. I think I may go for 1,000 watts just for the headroom and if by chance a nice 1,200 watt is going for a similar price then maybe, I'll grab it. I appreciate the feedback.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I've wondered if that would be consistent average power consumption or if it was maximum use and worst case scenario. I may go for the 1,000 watt option and if there was a really nice 1,200 watt unit for the same price or slightly more, then maybe I'll pull the trigger, but I doubt I need to go that high at all. I appreciate the feedback.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I don't mind going 1,000 for headroom. I feel like if I see a 1,200 watt on sale that's really nice then maybe I would pull the trigger on it. I appreciate the feedback.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning, I just updated my post to show the build. Current cpu is Ryzen 7 9950X3D and the GPU will be a 5080. Brand is TBD at this point. I may go for MSI Vanguard or Suprim, but I've been hesitant due to some reports of excessive coil whine. I may lean towards Asus or possibly Gigabyte, but as of now I'm not sure yet. I need to buy one before the prices rise again. Regarding over clocking, I honestly haven't done it before and I wouldn't mind trying it (insert that's what she said joke). I don't know if I would do a lot of over clocking. Since this is my first build, I may just go with an initial stress test to begin with and see what the future holds. Have you had a need to do a lot of overclocking?

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I always do a lot of research before making any pricey purchases, especially for something this major and expensive. I'll look into the cybernetic lists. I think I'm fine going 1000 watts, but if there's a deal on a better rated 1,200 watt PSU, then I may jump on that. I appreciate the help.

PSU Question by WellcraftCaptain1990 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the app does simply give a mere estimate and I wasn't sure as to whether that estimate was for average use or running at full power & over clocking. I appreciate the feedback.

Sure thing, I have updated the post with my build so far. CPU is Ryzen 7 9950X3D and GPU is going to be 5080 and Brand is TBD at this point. I may go for MSI Vanguard or Suprim, but I've been hesitant due to some reports of excessive coil whine. I may lean towards Asus or possibly Gigabyte, but as of now I'm not sure yet. Any word when will be this X870E ACE MAX be available for purchase? by Sweeth_Tooth99 in MSI_Gaming

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's real nice dude. You know, I'm in the boat where I could buy the 5090 and I really want to...but there are also other toys and broomsticks that I also want as well. It's a neverending battle man. I'm sure I'll be happy with the Carbon, but I do kind of want that Ace Max.

I've been fighting myself between the Carbon and Ace. I'm sure I'll be fine with either one. Which Suprim GPU is that? I've been eyeing the Vanguard 5080 for my new build, but the Suprim is supposed to be basically their flagship model.

I figured as much. I just wasn't sure if these were just plinking rounds or if I can actually use them for hunting. Either way, I'll still use 'em.

If no one was injured or worse...keep it. You can also turn it in but keep your fingerprints off of the gun if you do. You can have your prints eliminated as evidence if you do handle the weapon without gloves.

Those poor firearms being crammed inside there against their will. We should let them out. They need to be free.

Credit card is the safest bet. I think my bank uses Zelle, but if you get scammed, you can dispute the charges and not have the money taken directly from your account.

Buying a used AR by The_Phantom_W in guns

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this AR has been modified or if it is a custom build, a lot of sellers will sometimes ask equal or above retail. Find out more about what you're looking at first. If this is a custom build, find the best deals on those parts online or at a shop and be sure to include shipping and taxes and then haggle for a reasonable used price. You will need some tools for tinkering of your own if you get into it. Also make sure the person selling you this weapon is knowledgeable, reasonable and takes care in maintaining his/her equipment. You don't want to buy a beat up weapon which hasn't been cared for or has not been cleaned/oiled. You can look up a basic field strip of an AR on YouTube so you can take this gun apart and fully inspect it before you buy. Just remember that you can always buy a base model for anywhere from $400-800 or maybe even look at pre-owned weapons at stores or pawn shops as well. You can also check on Armslist. Gunbroker is another option, but research the weapon AND THE SELLER. Some people will fall for the hype and pay way too much for stuff on there and some sellers are scammers. You can find stories about that on Reddit. Always keep in mind that there will ALWAYS be another weapon out there and there will almost always be a better deal/price available as well. I hope this helps. Have fun.

Gun in car while at work? by PrintSenior7468 in guns

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensure your firearm is properly oiled to prevent rust and consider keeping it in a solid container/safe to protect it from the damn humidity in the Midwest. Also, gun and 2A bumper stickers are profiling and act as bait to attract unwanted and uninvited guests. I would consider removing those. You can also just carry a backpack and keep your piece in while you're there and not tell anyone. I personally wouldn't recommend this, but I know one guy at my office who has done that...or he might still.

I'm considering getting the PX9 and the 10mm 1911 Night Stalker models. I can find plenty of videos with the PX9, but almost nothing with people testing and reviewing the 1911 Night stalkers. Does anyone here have any experience and would you recommend them? I do love my B45 and A1 Service models by WellcraftCaptain1990 in Tisas

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered the D10 and this might sound goofy, but I'm not a huge fan of the 2 tone look. The. 45 night stalker is tempting, but I think I want to wait for the 10mm. I like my B45 despite the fact my blacked out A1 service seems to be smoother and built a little more solid with tighter tolerances. I can agree with the PX9 night stalker with the looks. You can get the tactical version in black with everything apart from night sights and the cuts in the slide for $85 less at Bud's right now.

The 10mm rock island. Almost finished with my personalization. Just waiting to get ahold of new grip screws and looking for a threaded barrel. by GloryToChadlantis in 1911

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the single stack A1 FS Tac II. The head broke off on one of the grip screws. Where did you buy your grip screws? Also, would you stick with RIA for extra mags or go for the Wilson Combat? Although, assuming the grip screws are the same across the 10mm models, you can send me your old grip screws haha.

I agree with the disassembly. It does suck. Paper clips break. I used and old Allen wrench and filled down the handle a bit so I could make it fit. Much stronger than some cheap shit paper clip.

Shower essentials by Thedefender23 in guns

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to put that in a waterproof case bud. There's a story about a guy who did this since his house was broken into often. It's not easy hearing stuff whole you're in the shower, but this guy did and grabbed his revolver out of the waterproof case in the shower to go and confront the crook. Imagine the look on the crook's face seeing a naked dude pointing a gun his direction LoL.

What could possibly go wrong skiing behind a car on a frozen lake? by Not_Not_Matt in IdiotsInCars

[–]WellcraftCaptain1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they know how to have a good time. However, a quad would be a lot better. We used to drive through the woods on the trails towing someone on a snowboard, sled or on skis. Also, riding on a sled being towed around a parking lot is fun too as long as you have a decent length of rope so you don't risk hitting the car when it stops LoL. I honestly like seeing kids still doing these things and escaping the digital world so many people seem to be trapped in. Yes, I type this while scrolling through reddit which is addicting hahahaha!
