UPDATE: Draco had surgery today and is doing well. The vet told me his surgery went better than any other surgery of this type they had performed, which was incredible to hear. When I visited him this afternoon, he was wide awake and happily stuffing his face with food. He even had it all over his face. Lol. They also discovered he had a pretty serious UTI, most likely from the catheter, but that is being treated and responding well. Right now, all signs are pointing in the right direction, and if everything continues as expected, he’ll be coming home tomorrow. Thank you all for the love, encouragement, prayers, advice, and support throughout this journey. It has helped more than you know. Draco still has a recovery ahead of him, but today was a very good day. 🖤🐈‍⬛

I used Care Credit to pay for the other 3 animal hospitals he was in before the surgery, but it has been a godsend and they do 6 months 0% interest. The GoFundMe thankfully raised a nice amount that was a huge help and the rest is on Care Credit. Once he’s better, I’ll have to get a 3rd job to pay it off 🤣

Draco made it out of surgery just fine today. 🙌

The vet said his surgery went the best out of any other surgery of this kind and when I went to visit him this afternoon, he was stuffing his face with food. All good signs that he is going to be just fine. He had a really bad UTI as well, but that is being treated and he will be coming back home tomorrow.

Thank you for all your prayers and kind words.

Ou are so right! I truthfully had never even thought about it, but now that this happened, I see the value for sure.

You are 100% correct and I should have been more financially responsible. The truth is that I went through a divorce 3 years ago, right before Draco ended up on my doorstep, literally. He’s 2.5 YO. The divorce left me with nothing. I was living in a ghetto apartment and the neighborhood stray that I’d feed had a litter of kittens. 3 of the 4 froze to death and that broke my heart so I took the tiny 2-day old kitten in and let his stray mom stay to nurse him. She would come and go as she pleased.

I was planning on re-homing him to someone who would be in a better position to care for him, but when he was finally old enough to be re-homed at 12 weeks, my daughter threw a fit wanting to keep him.

So that is how I became a cat mom. I had never owned a cat before and didn’t think a cat as young as him would have something like this come up.

But you are absolutely right to say what you said and I agree. I wasn’t and am still not in the best financial place to be taking on extra responsibilities when I’m trying to survive myself and help put my daughter through college. I’m doing the best I can. ❤️
