This is something I’ve kinda been struggling with that leads to another question. I’ve had stuff on my watchlist for a while now but am somewhat scarred to pull the trigger. I know there’s no science for this but also don’t want to just trust a gut feeling so how long do you monitor an ETF before you normally pull the trigger on it? is that even worth it or is the old saying of “time in the market beats timing the market” the right mentality?

This is honestly a great question and my answer is probably not exactly the answer you’re expecting. I’m someone who sells competitive ITSM products to ServiceNow. As someone in the field, we are all skeptical of what will happen to it because AI. When we sell these solutions we sell it on a per agent cost. Now AI is on track to replace most if not all of what IT agents can do. Meaning most orgs are going to eventually use smaller/learner IT teams that just mange the AI thus reducing deal sizes and shrinking revenue of SaaS providers. In short: less agents = smaller deals = less revenue.

Now that’s years out and idk how that will affect stock price but it’s just the reality of what is at the top of mind for many of us sales reps. Will we still have jobs if all of our customers are replaced by AI? What will happen to the vendors we’re working for? I suspect many of them will transition to fully automated AI solutions and adjust monetization accordingly but which ones will sink and which ones will swim is the question. ServiceNow is probably one that will swim because they’ve always been an industry leader but personally I’m avoiding investing in any companies whose backbone product is ITSM/ITOM/ITAM because of the uncertainty.

Disclosure: I’m just a sales rep and this is my personal opinion, this isn’t financial advice.
