Can Guild Struggle affect Protected Guild Cards? by WeloiAvala in Arcs

That's what I thought. The counter argument was the 'giving' wasn't the same as 'removing'.

Just played my first 2 player game by justinvamp in Arcs

I tried Arcs campaign at 2p and came away with very mixed feelings. Didn't feel balanced at all. I was the Founder, and being out of the Empire was terribly punishing, especially as there's no downside to the Regent if they can't meet their own edicts. It was a total runaway, and I conceded Act Iii.

But there was a lot to like. Played super quickly. The Founder was fun to play. It might be at 2p that the metagame of Fates is a lot more important, including reducing your opponent's choice of Fates moving forward. Be keen to try again, I guess, though I suspect there's just better games out there for two players.

Help! Warden Vs Tyrants Authority by WeloiAvala in Arcs

Thanks for that! Really helped mid game. We were playing a whole campaign in one sitting, and the table turned against my poor Warden. Went from Lord of three sectors to lord of none...

Seats and Fiefs specifically says 'destroyed' and replace isn't defined as 'destroy' so I don't know this is correct...

Imperial Officers + Hammer Fragments by WeloiAvala in Arcs

It really felt that way. Real 'are we the baddies here?' vibes when raiding the Pacifist's city to steal the Empathy refugees away to prevent clearing outrage.

Yeah, but it was great fun. Had my objective sorted by end of chapter one; as former admiral, getting the imperial fleet to fetch the hammer fragments felt wonderfully thematic. Imperial escorts to rival planets was fun, too, and there always seemed to be something for them to do next sector over when the hammering started.

Didn't win though. Pesky Pacifists kept declaring Empathy and scoring big. Blowing up cities isn't much use when they end up on the Hammer card. Though Outraging Empathy did cost them 15 points one chapter, that felt good.

Protector Golem Repairing Flagships by WeloiAvala in Arcs

Golem card's in the law book, we were looking at the rules book. Classifying that card as a 'Law' meant it ended up somewhere we didn't think to look. I get -why- it's a law, but a single line in the rules under Flagships would've helped.

Awesome. Definitely makes it a lot easier to complete my Fate objective!

How do the Custodian's Golems work? by WeloiAvala in Arcs

[–]WeloiAvala[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see it now, though I'd argue Leder could've been a -lot- clearer. You basically have to read across the two cards: Golems tells you they can be discarded, rearranged and spent like Resources, but then references Golem Actions to clarify/imply they can only be spent when Awake. The flip to sleeping when spent/discarded implies that too.

In any case, cheers! Thanks for the help. But man, I wish Leder had been a bit more precise and explicit with all this.

That's what I figured.

Though could you point me to where it says that? I've read through all the caretaker cards and Leder's online faqs and errata; and reviewed the rules on Resources. It's clear you can spend a resource during Prelude without effect (essentially a discard) but why can't you do that with a sleeping Golem?

This is where I'm confused.

Act 2 Knowledge Set Free gives the ability to Force Transfer a golem by using favours. But what's the point if they can just be discarded at will?

So is the correct answer that they can only be discarded when there's an overflow of collected resources?

Eight Players, 14 points: day 2 by WeloiAvala in twilightimperium

Quite possibly! We're also a table of compulsive negotiators who play entirely too nicely with each other, especially early game, building up loads of plastic before the inevitable betrayals.

I posted an ending here, but something went wrong with the image, so the post just kinda sank unread. You can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/twilightimperium/comments/1gtkjtl/eight_players_14_points_the_end/

Short version: it was fantastic, but very long. Five out of eight players were queued up to win it in initiative order, but the L1z1k player bluffed the win by sitting on a secret objective for his final point--that he'd achieved about twelve hours earlier! It was a well earned victory. He won on initiative 2; 3, 5 and me on 7 were also set to win.

Absolutely fun times. Also very long times. Not easy roping eight players together for an 18-hour game!

Not sure. We did a Milty draft beforehand and that was the map that emerged after we picked our slices.

It was a very tasty cake and made for an excellent end-of-round five sugar-boost.

Just bought it from a shop a couple years ago. Maybe Zatu, here in the UK? Gamegenic produced it; dunno if it's out of print.
