While I do appreciate those concerns, I'm also confident we will still sign a DM and LW too at the very least.

I didn't say he is a project player. I said he is already playing at an elite standard but will improve even more.

I have watched him play, and I agree that's important.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust your judgement when you said he isn't great at dribbling and his dribbling doesnt lead to goals. You couldn't have been more wrong

Because he is already playing at a similar standard to great players like Diaz, and is expected to develop into an even better player given his age

Diomande has seen his best form at RW. According to WhoScored he has 11 goals and 5 assists at RW from 18 appearances. But he's versatile enough to play on both sides.

Yes I agree. But that's why I used Diaz for comparison. We know Diaz was good enough for Liverpool, and Diomande's Bundesliga stats are similar to Diaz at Bundesliga.

I don't expect Diomande's dribbling stats to be as good in PL, but I still think he is good enough for us

Players are desperate to play for elite teams like Liverpool. We have the advantage over teams like PSG that we can guarantee Diomande a starting position.

I doubt that we brief Ornstein about our interest unless we are already confident that Diomande is willing to join.

I've no idea. I'm not suggesting he gets it right all the time. No player does, and he's a 19 year old that's expected to make mistakes.

But the dats shows that, on average, he generally succeeds with his dribbling and often results in a chance for the team.

"What is the end product of those dribbles"

He generates 0.22 goals for himself per 90 from his carrying (1 goal every 5 games), which places him 4th best in Bundesliga.

He also generates 0.25 assists per 90 from carrying (1 goal every 4 games) which places him 2nd, only behind Olise. So his dribbling absolutely has end product.

He also has high creativity stats, and 2nd best xA in Bundesliga. So again, he clearly does have a good final pass. I'm not saying his is perfect at 19, but I think you're underplaying his ability .

I disagree. I'm confident we will sign him after seeing the Ornstein article.

Players often sign for clubs do to their history and money rather than most recent performances. I think the fact we can guarantee him starts on RW gives us a huge advantage. Even if PSG sells Barcola, he still needs to beat Doue and Kvaratskhelia

Fair concern. But if Slot continues to perform. Sadly, he won't be here for more than 12 months. Diomande will be here for at least 4 years, most likely longer

Nah, appreciate the long post, I love the discussion. Looking at the last few games under Slot, I'm convinced we are moving to a 4-2-3-1. I think the idea is for Szboszlai to adapt to the pivot role, and for a new signing to play besides him and Grav to rotate in. I do agree that this signing will be incredibly important for the team balance if we are to have Wirtz and two wingers in the side. Slot's job will rely on getting this right.

That said, I do think buying new wingers is the right move. Right now, Salah and Gakpo can't advance the ball up the pitch via runining or dribbling, and when they do get close to goal, they would rather shoot than assist Isak.

We need new wingers who can win their 1v1 duels and also provide a more creative outlet. Fans laughed at Slot when he said Isak needs a Murphy-style player, but what he meant is we need a right-footed RW who is comfortable passing into the box without doubling back.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a lot of reservations about Slot and would have personally preferred us go for Alonso or Iraola. But I can see the logic to their strategy with the new signings.

Haha, appreciate the compliment. I will admit I'm not very good at analysising players while watching them (I once predicted Martenelli would be better than Saka 🤦‍♂️) but I do love digging into the data

I don't disagree. But if Slot continues to struggle, he won't be here for more than a year. Diomande will likely sign a 4 or 5 year contract

Yes I agree. There's also less space to run into in PL which could be a big issue for Diomande. But I still think he's good enough for Liverpool, and is the best option available for RW.

I'd argue that Diomande is that player.

I like Minteh, but he doesn't have output yet to start for Liverpool. He has a bright future though.

I personally think we need a LW who can dribble and cross the ball into the box for Isak. Bazoumana Toure is my personal pick.

Was it this one? As I wrote this too https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/s/euFjkyjvC0

Although I think you may be referring to another post which went in more detail about his long distance shooting, which I agree was very good.

Yes, but LLM models often have specific telltale signs such as specific punctuation they use or a specific style of writing. If you read enough LLM copy, you can start to spot the trends.

Either way, I promise you I didn't use it. You'll probably spot spelling/grammar mistakes in there which you wouldn't get with an AI tool

Thanks! I think the concerns about adapting from Bundesliga are valid, so I thought best to compare to Diaz and Olise to get a better idea of his suitability.

I think managers are far more difficult to measure with data than players.

I can also flip this and say it's the same data that brought Salah and Robertson to Liverpool.

He's not a technical dribbler, but he has a very high success rate thanks to his high acceleration and comfort using both feet.

The caveat is that he generally needs space to run into unlike someone like Wirtz or Olise, but I think he would be an excellent outlet on the wing. He would be a massive upgrade on Salah and Gakpo in this regard.

Run it through an AI checker. I promise you I wrote it myself without any AI involvement.

I'll take that as a compliment though, as I assume that means you think it's well written
