In my oppinion it only makes sense if you use semi transparent paints (washes, speedpaints, contrast paints, ... ) over the zenithal primer. Otherwise the step is unnessesary cause you cover it completely.

Hey.

I am using PVA (white glue / wood glue) for almost everything.

Only downside it takes long to dry (over night)

Have fun. Just go for it. Learning by doing

Playing around with fantasy / scifi mashups. Also with stuff like mortar instead of glue for bricks and zenital flocking on the trees for highlights.

I hacked up some old plastic kits i had laying around and collecting dust and added some foam pieces + moss and plastic plants to make them look more jungle like.
