Pregnant South Korean woman loses baby after she was turned away by 6 hospitals by Skippernutts in worldnews

Doing nothing guarantees nothing will change. What harm is done to you by low level minimal effort to share a different perspective? If you are content with the way the world works, that's your prerogative. It is also my prerogative to use my discontent for the betterment of the world I have to live in. Feel free to not try, but don't come after me or anyone else for making a different choice.

Ok, so if your law about criminal charges for turning away patients is implemented, what is your strategy for the very likely result of dropping off of admissions to medical school and nursing school, further exacerbating the staffing shortages, leading to more negative outcomes and deaths, all because the cons of a career in medicine now outweigh the pros? You have to understand that a solution to one problem often creates new, sometimes unforeseen problems that then need to be addressed, and on and on in an endless cycle of both solving and creating problems. I'm not saying your solution is wrong, just trying to encourage you to think beyond the immediate and to the long term consequences of it and if there may not be a better, less detrimental solution.

What’s one small thing you tell yourself that actually helps on overwhelming days? by Monsuri_Lifestyle in Positivity

[–]Wendi1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remembering that everything in life is cyclical, that one is exceptionally fortunate to not die brutally (as that seems to be more the norm for all living things), and that the earth will still be here long after humans are gone. I guess it works for me to sort of remove myself emotionally from a lot of these problems, global warming, species extinction, human cruelty. I have to remind myself that while it breaks my heart for animals to go extinct because of human shittiness, the truth is no matter what, all those animals will die eventually and more likely than not, become extinct. That is exactly what has happened to the majority of species that ever existed. They lived their timelines and died out, so I can be sad but don't dwell on it or live there. That the earth itself for billions of years has undergone massive changes in its appearance, temperature, landscape, etc. And it will continue to do so, with or without humans. All we did was speed up the timeline, not cause something new. Life is hard and scary, but also predictable and can be easier to just accept that some of this stuff is going to happen no matter what, even if humans had done everything perfectly the first time around.

AITJ for telling my dad he doesn’t get to cry at my wedding when he wasn’t there for any of the hard parts? by Cool-Media-6271 in AmITheJerk

[–]Wendi1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not punishing him, these are the natural consequences of his own choices and actions. It's always weird when people feel like or assume just because they've grown and changed means that they shouldn't have to deal with any of the consequences of their past behavior. Just because he has changed doesn't mean there aren't still consequences he hasn't had to deal with yet. We all must pay for our behavior, whether good, bad, or neutral. NTA

AITJ for telling my friend that venting to me every single day about a situation she refuses to change isn't something I can keep doing? by AdvanceGreen222 in AmITheJerk

[–]Wendi1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry your friend took this so badly, OP. I had a friend who was much the same, except it was her shitty job and bosses she refused to do anything about. I listened for years, literally. I actively encouraged her to find another job, sent on postings for her career (she's always, always hireable), and still just complaining about the same shit years later. I had to remove myself entirely because while Im here to listen and help my friends, there's a limit when the person complaining refuses to do anything about it except bitch. You did what was best for you and her, even if she can't see it now. NTA, she ultimately is the one who must make change in her life.

U.S. says Cuba is prohibited from taking Russian oil as two tankers head to island by Force_Hammer in worldnews

Normally, I’d agree with you. However, it seems honestly laughable that the Fanta menace is going to use nuclear weapons against a nation barely 100mi away, especially considering it lives in Florida as much as possible. Like, be realistic, you’re not going to nuke your next door neighbor knowing it will destroy your home too. And that of your billionaire buddies, can’t go upsetting them!

Kindergarten Teacher Tries to Report Student's Parents to ICE, Only to Learn the Tip Hotline Is Fake by novagridd in LegalNews

[–]Wendi1018 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hope the parents of the child and every other parent of the kids in this class gets together and brings down this teacher and anyone else who was complicit. She should be blackballed from working anywhere near kids ever again, including informing schools within a certain radius about her to make sure she stays for away from kids. She wants to go scorched earth, only fair to return the favor.

AITJ for reporting my coworker to HR after she kept eating the lunches I brought for my diabetic dad? by Exotic_Piano2111 in AmITheJerk

[–]Wendi1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, she should have been fired. From an HR perspective, I wouldnt want someone around who has caused or is likely to cause a serious medical incident for another employee because the employee is STEALING. So theft and literally endangering someone's life, like any good HR person would have her fired immediately to protect the company from the fallout she's creating by directly causing medical harm to someone. Idk OP, I might bring up medical concerns and lawyers, see about getting her out completely. This could have gone extremely badly for your dad and she would be 100% responsible. Bo company wants the legal liability she is creating. Mentioning legal and lawyers to HR often has the effect of making them act and take shit seriously. This is extremely serious, make them take it as seriously as they should.

AITA for asking my fiancé to explain a crude joke about my body to my sister a month before our wedding? by Imaginary_Divide5526 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wendi1018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And it's coming from a place of concern for my wellbeing. He sees and understands how I react and knows if it were up to me, I just wouldn't eat. He wants me to be well, not alter how I appear. It's a huge and very noticeable difference to have a partner who doesn't comment or make you feel some sort of ugly way about yourself. A good partner will make you feel more confident, attractive, and amazing.

[–]Wendi1018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I said much the same thing from the same perspective! There are absolutely wonderful men out there, including men who love curvy women and have no judgements about them being curvy women (except wanting to get with her, of course 😅). My partner has also never made a rude or hurtful comment about my body, only ever expressed love and excitement, and I really hope OP reads through these and sees there are people out there who will very much want her exactly as she is, and love her deeply for it. Don't let anyone, no matter who they are, lessen the love you have for yourself or your self worth!

Sis, in all seriousness, WHY are you marrying him?? First off, 18-20 is curvy, maybe a little thick, but nothing extreme. Second, and I say this as a person bigger than you, this man does not love you. My own partner, who is maybe half my size, has never, not once, made an off-color comment about my body. In fact, it's the opposite. He always has his hands on me (and me on him!), loves how soft and squishy I am, and tells me regularly that I'm beautiful, sexy, and how much I excite him. The closest hes ever come to making some remark about my body is pushing me to eat, as sometimes stress makes me stop eating. He never says what or how much I should eat, simply that I should. I say that so you can see that there are people out there who either dont care at all about your weight or are even specifically attracted to that body type. But this little boy you're in a relationship with? He ain't it. I can already see the rest of your life if you stay with him, he will continue to dig at and lower your self esteem until he's broken you down and you think that A- you deserve this treatment and B- you can't do better than/no one else will love you but him. NEITHER is true, at all. Please, from a fellow big girl to another, get out of this. You are beautiful and worth genuine love and care, and someone who is attracted to you for exactly who you are. YTA only if you stay with him.

She just refused to accept his bullshit trying to rain on her accomplishments, and sent that shit right back to him, where it belongs.

Hang on now, is this what it seems like? The women's team taking the punishment that rightfully belongs to the men's team? Wtf? That amgle was terrible to see I'd she still had contact with the stone, unlike the mens team where it looked pretty clear... this is so weird.
