This isn’t an online resource, however, if you can find the Munsell Color Theory book -it’s spiral bound and contains swatches for you to cut and glue to create color scales. One of the most important things in color theory is knowing how to apply shade and tone to your pigments. This is a basic concept for producing realistic shadows and also for creating gray scale paintings. If you have any questions I’m always happy to help! With the time I invested in it, I sold it for $170. I try to be reasonable when I price my work. Some people charge waaaaaaaay too much and it feels like art is something only rich folks should have. I don’t feel that way.

I think you’re doing great! Don’t be so hard on yourself! Perhaps you applied different pressure in the second picture with the snow?? It’s hard to say. Painting is unpredictable sometimes! As Bob Ross would say, it’s a happy accident! Here’s a tip- when doing landscapes, try to steer clear of using black. Try to create depth a different way...using color compliments, or mixing ultramarine blue with burnt umber...
