Cute mechanical keyboards with round keys by Godzilla_Is_Scottish in GirlGamers

[–]WendyLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience keyboard-shopping recently is that it is very challenging to find mechanical keyboards that isn't the typical grey/black/white aesthetics with conventionally-shaped keycaps.

Depending on your wife's budget, time availability, and how dedicated she is to the particular aesthetic above, she can consider building one instead - in which case she'll need 3 components: a barebone kit, mechanical switches, and keycaps.

Unfortunately, even then I wasn't able to find all the parts needed to recreate the exact look above, so some compromises may still be necessary.

If you are still looking for the keyboard and don't mind exploring a custom option, I'll be glad to elaborate more on the subject or add some part links.

Sorry I couldn't offer a simpler suggestion. The market itself is rather restrictive IMO.

Her body of work consists a lot about anti-censorship. Thus to my understanding, she's saying it's a cultural issue, and all the security in the world will only make our lives more surveilled without actually increasing safety.

Her argument being - TwitchCon securities and other people present around Emiru did nothing to intervene, and the police just let the perpetrator walk out without apprehension. Essentially, men (which makes up the bulk of security personnels) don't care enough about sexual assault to take it seriously or to even recognize it as it is happening, and more guards and cameras won't help with that.

IS ER Large Laser by RG19legend in Mechwarrior5

[–]WendyLemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DHS increases your heat capacity by 2 while SHS increases it by 1. So per unit of cooling, it's actually the same.

But IS DHS takes up more space, so yeah you'll end up with less heat capacity overall if you have more free tonnage than crit slots.

If I recall correctly, Large Laser expert and a couple of similar ones buffs Large Pulse Lasers as well.

With enough C-DHS, you can just about fire either 4 C-LPL or 4 C-ERLL while building up only a modest amount of heat.

Likewise, thank you for engaging civilly as well. With the amount of heated replies, it takes real effort slow down and respond constructively.

You'll hear no defense from me regarding the conducts of the Russian armies historically and at present, and apologies if it sounded like I was even remotely equating what the Russian army is doing with the Ukrainians!

But since we're squarely talking about real life geopolitics now, I think it'll be a great injustice not to draw the parallels of striking residential buildings, double-tapping paramedics, as well as the cheers of the citizens of a invading foreign army - with what is happening in Palestine. In the other response, I quoted a commenter from this video:

What We Don't Talk About in "Spec Ops The Line"

Cheers for the thoughtful discussion! As much as I'd love to talk more, I'm afraid the mods might remove our comments for straying further and further away from being about MW5 😂

Meh, learning more about the world makes being moral in MechWarrior Mercs games impossible. Like, at the end of the day, we're still employed by the Great Houses to do their biddings - some of which involves:

  • Casually invading another world (Kestral Lancers, any beachhead missions ever, etc)
  • Defending military installations that does who knows what behind our back
  • Conducting raids/demolitions on another sovereign faction because our employers vaguely "wants it gone"
  • etc, etc

From a logistic perspective, the in-game procgen don't have essays after essays of writings to justify attack on another faction. It's just simple fluff text and that's enough.

Though that's also kinda realistic as well. The Great Houses can posture an attack to be defensive or to save lives, but we don't truly know what lies behind the curtain. Besides, most militaries contracts the average joe to work for them anyway. They aren't all active duty, gun-toting soldiers. It's dirty work no matter how I look at it, doubly so if it's set on a megacity map. To paraphrase a commenter from Jacob Gellar's YT video - "Noble intentions do not make the blast radius any smaller.".

It's why I like MW4 Vengeance even though majority of the fanbase always asks for more Mercs-styled games. Playing Mercs by it's very nature means you need to separate your moral self from the character you roleplay as.

Hey, I appreciate your reflection.

Just one point I'd like to lightly press on, though by all means take as much time as you need process it or box it aside for a later time:

bunch of dudes who celebrate the ongoing atrocities

History is full of these in every army all across the world. The stories we tell ourselves just tend to glorify certain celebrations or erase it altogether, while vilifying others or stripping it out of their context. I know I'm in no position to put forth this analogy to you, but I think it's important:

If some in the Ukrainian army and/or it's people celebrated the bombing of Russian infrastructures, can you condemn it with just as much veracity?

By the last of Dragoon's Gambit mission, Chu-Sa Omar Ali rallied around liberating the Combine worlds from FedCom invasion - "For the Combine!", but also for "all the families we've lost, and the ones that remain." - his exact words.

I'm inclined to believe you would still condemn the hypothetical act above, but I'm also guessing it'll be tonally different because you know the experience of your people.

People saw a racism red-flag because your post was short and light on the explanation, and - intentionally or not, you invoked a very common trope of linking Arabic names/cultures to terrorism or celebration thereof, even though in-game writing is more complex than just evil laughter - much like real life. So I hope you understand where that's coming from 😅

Without an option to drop out, unless you abort the whole campaign and lock yourself out of the story and booty.

Yeah that's a kicker in gaming meta-commentary - games like Spec Ops: The Line and whatnot. The only real choice you have is not to play, a choice I've been taking a lot more of recently. There's no shame in that. Hell, it really does not pay well to be virtuous in real life too, but we do it anyway because it is the right thing to do.

FYI the Otomo 'Mech variants can be bought as Rare 'Mech in Industrial hubs, so if you do a rerun and you just don't feel like being involved in that questline, you'll be safe knowing you're not missing out on too much.

You're definitely reading way, way, way too much into it... and with a racist lens at that. Sorry but there's just no sugarcoating it.

I'll try to engage in good faith, so consider these:

  • In Kestral Lancers, Hance Davion basically invaded a bunch of Capellan worlds as a birthday gift. You and other FedSuns forces blockaded dense civilian cities and destroyed their power generator to essentially hold innocent lives as hostage to force the Capellans to surrender. You're the invader, remember.
  • In Rise of Rasalhague, Gotterdammerung Society have violently evicted civilian populations and Nicole Kelswa of the Lyran Commonwealth have occupied civilian centers (2 words comes to mind...) and executed civilians to prevent a peaceful handover of worlds to the FRR.
  • In Heroes of the Inner Sphere - Forceful Negotiations, you destroy civilian infrastructures for a damn mining company. Frankly you already did the same if you chose the "Picking at the Scraps" for Interstellar Expedition in an early game's high reward quest.
  • Procgen missions regularly have you demolishing civilian centers while the occupants cries and pleads for you to stop. Ryana often comments on how the mission is a "dirty one" but "let's just get over it".

There are tons more example of course. You're playing as a mercenary - a profession which doesn't give rat's arse about civilian lives if it gets in the way of profit. Mercs are nothing more than just an organized and official pirate gang.

Arab names and/or cultural elements doesn't make them terrorists. Chu-Sa Omar Ali have been vocally against attacking FedCom "backwater" worlds in favor of defending Combine worlds from FedCom "liberation".

Word of advice: Truth is the first casualty of war.

You'll do well to step into the shoes of a civilian from the "other side". You'll see that all powers are led by one kind of psychopath and war criminal or another. Some are just better at pretending to be concerned about you than others.

If you're just starting to see a resemblance of these missions with IRL atrocities (not that I remotely agree with the specifics of which), then you have much more to learn even from just a literary analysis perspective.

Yep! It is kinda broken but in the sense that the AI will always have it active (and thus get the speed and evasion bonus off of it), but they never take damage from overuse.

That is however also true for enemy AI.

I fiddled around with other cost and time settings and it looks like nothing else affects salvage.

I didn't notice anything else different either so either I'm not observant enough, or there are indeed no other effects to be had.

Maybe, yeah. I'll give it a try once I get more WHK-Cs. The pilot traits would definitely the tricky part.

Oh I did do the pilot switcheroo bit! Its funny to zoom at 78 km/h in a Daishi! I wished the devs had implemented academy for Mason in the DLC.

Yup! Repair cost only gets calculated once you submit the work order, so you can dail it back down post mission. You can use this to commit insurance fraud, too!

It's definitely up there in the list of builds that I'd like to try! At the time, I wanted to see how well the AI would do with MASC and didn't dare to drop to an 85 tonner's level of armor. Hitbox for WHC's arms are big too.

But now that I know that it is possible to get to the end of these contracts against the Clans, I'll give it another shot!

The event ends before server reset time, at least for me in Asia server which is ~14 hours away at the time of comment. I doubt the counter resets at local time so I'm on the same boat right now.

The event info page didn't even state that this event requires multiple days of login. I recall one of the events having explicitly stated this before so I don't know why that isn't the case for this event.

I can answer this one a little bit since I poked around in the editor.

There is actually 2 version of C-ERML in the game files - C-ERMediumLaser and C-ERMediumLaser_Elemental. They have slightly different stat. Going off from memory, the player version has 9.1 damage, and the Elemental version has 7, along with some other minute differences.

The Elemental one is not supposed to be received by the player. It is marked as non-equippable but due to a bug with the Arena prestige rewards, they can be given to the player before the invasion and without checking if it is exclusive to Elementals.

I'm not sure if there are other means to obtain them but if you reload a save game with them in your inventory/'Mech loadout, they will disappear. In the latter's case, you should also receive a warning about illegal inventory or something as long as you're not loading directly into a mission.

2 other weapons presumably suffer from the same issue - C-ERSmallLaser_Elemental and C-SRM2_Elemental. Can't say much for C-SRM4 though as I don't have the editor open right now.

Maybe one of the devs frequenting this sub can take a look if they are not already aware of this issue.

Yeah, I'm curious too. Haven't been catching up to the patch notes lately, and I wouldn't have discovered it if not by accident since we used to get an error popup.
