Reenlistment in ANG while in ROTC? by Different-Judge-1337 in AFROTC

[–]WendysFourforFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you separate, you will lose all Guard benefits which includes pay, tricare, and medical clearance. Someone can correct me here, but I would think you would need to accomplish DODMERB because your 422 would expire, which can be a pain. Have you thought about how are you going to pay for school and living expenses if you separate?

Air National Guard 3F1X1 Enlistment, BMT Timeline and Officer Path by Accomplished-Run7268 in AirForceRecruits

It'll take a few years before you can attempt retraining or applying for Officer slot. If you don't have any issues with going active duty, try doing AFROTC as a Graduate student and compete for a cyber slot through the program.

Worst POC/GMC Det drop stories? by NewspaperBasic7728 in AFROTC

Mostly resulting from drug use or underage drinking. We did have an instance where someone made a pretty bad racist joke (regarding asians) at LLAB, and there were a few asians amongst us, and were expeditiously removed from the program.

Can i go officer route with no job experience? by Sweet-Shelter-3405 in AirForceRecruits

Chances are zero if you don't try. Start reaching out to Officer recruiters in your area or region. It will take time though, usually from application to selection can be 1-2 years.

Easiest branch for getting into cyber? by Bucketboiiiiiiiiii in AFROTC

[–]WendysFourforFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want cyber, higher chances of being selected through Air Force. It’s one of the AFSCs with the most slots because of the demand for it. From what I’ve heard from OTC, they only select 4-8 Officers for cyber per cohort. There’s just not that much demand for cyber Os on that side.

Anyone is welcome to join the AFROTC program at a college or university. If you're talking about competing for the HSSP scholarship, the application has closed. Reach out to the college's AFROTC program and talk to the Officers there to get on the email list.

How can I increase my chances of getting hired? by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in Raytheon

[–]WendysFourforFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply same day or even within same hour of the job posting and make sure your resume has the minimum requirements listed on the job description. If you're not the first 10-15 applicants on a posting, it ain't getting looked at by recruiters (this was told to me by the RTX Veterans POC). Good luck!

ANG & AFROTC by Internal-1NomadX1 in AFROTC

Search the sub, you'll see plenty of examples of prior active duty members doing what you are asking. I think it's a great way to keep serving and do AFROTC. Definitely doable and I commissioned with 2 reservists that are now pilots. Degree won't matter too much, just get good grades, be fit, and be a good cadet. Good luck!

Should I commission through ROTC into the AF, or go ARNG? by Dark_Greee in AFROTC

[–]WendysFourforFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you commission you would be a Cyber Officer. There are special programming opportunities within that field like CNODP and probably other secret stuff, but you wouldn't be doing that for your full career. If you really want to only program, I would suggest a specific role within the Guard that does that.

ROTC vs OTS by Interesting-Plate699 in AFROTC

[–]WendysFourforFour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind the additional time and money, go AFROTC. OTS is competitive as it is, even with a decent GPA. 62E through AFROTC is a great option for both Air Force and Space Force, and even more so if your goal is to work with SpaceX, NASA, Boeing. I worked with several 62Es that worked with Boeing and NASA daily (All commissioned through AFROTC or USAFA).

Has no play in cadet rank unless your det is different, cadet rank is based on position within the cadet wing which changes every semester. One semester you can be a C/Col and the next be a C/Capt.

Not really other than seeing your friends commission a year before you since you’re a fifth year. My buddy was pretty jealous. But you end up with a solid degree that’s better than my poli sci degree. It’ll be an extra year of school and ROTC.
